City Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br />December 15, 2008 <br />Page 3 <br />1 M The Water Re -Use Project is being nominated for the Best Project for Collaboration to <br />2 Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs. This is awarded to two cities, two counties, and <br />3 two school districts. <br />4 N Staff has been meeting with Ramsey County staff on the 2009 Street Project. <br />5 W Staff has met with Middle School staff on the school's construction schedule for 2009 <br />6 and possible impacts to the City. <br />7 ® City Manager held the last Metropolitan Area Management Association (MAMA) <br />8 meeting Thursday last week as President of the Organization. He will continue to be a <br />9 member of the Board in 2009 as past president. <br />10 M City staff has been serving as Salvation Army bell ringers. <br />11 W City staff has adopted two families in need in the City of St. Anthony. Compliments to <br />12 staff for their efforts in collecting and coordinating this effort on their own time. <br />13 <br />14 Mayor Faust requested Mr. Mornson to extend to staff the City Council's sincere appreciation <br />15 for their efforts that have been above and beyond the call of duty. He commended staff for their <br />16 service as bell ringers and the efforts in adopting the two St. Anthony families. Ile noted over <br />17 $1,400 was collected for the families who spent the money at St. Anthony businesses. <br />18 <br />19 Councihnember Stille commented on the impact the sidewalk project on 37°i Avenue would have <br />20 in making the City connectable and requested that the Council be kept informed on the grant <br />21 request. <br />22 <br />23 Mayor Faust reported on the December 1.1, 2008, he attended the Winter Parking Lot and <br />24 Sidewalk Maintenance Workshop funded by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency. The <br />25 workshop was attended by over 55 individuals. It allows businesses and governmental agencies <br />26 to look at the best way to salt and sand. He commented on the cost savings and environmental <br />27 benefits associated with the salting/sanding methods taught at the workshop. <br />28 <br />29 Cormeilmember Stille: No report. <br />30 <br />31 Councilmember Roth: No report. <br />32 <br />33 VIII. COMMUNI'T'Y FORUM. <br />34 <br />35 Mayor Faust invited residents to come forward at this time and address the Council on items that <br />36 are not on the regular agenda. <br />37 <br />38 Hearing none, Mayor Faust moved forward with the agenda. <br />39 <br />40 IX. INFORMATION AND ANNOUNCEMENTS. <br />41 <br />42 Mayor Faust provided a synopsis on the 2008 City Council calendar of events, which included <br />43 the following: <br />44 9 22 regular City Council meetings, including the adoption of 82 resolutions and 7 <br />45 ordinances <br />46 9 13 HRA meetings <br />12 <br />
