Cal
Report Date:
Meeting Date:
T rcGC 5 7^;D12 CclfNC(L ©NSI1 T 47 ION
ITEM DESCRIPTION:
January 13, 2009
January 13, 2009
Agenda Section: VI.A.
Resolution 09-016; Granting Permission to the St. Anthony - New Brighton School District
#282 to Expand, Improve and Modify the Existing Service Road Between Water Tower Park
and the St. Anthony Middle School to Accommodate the Planned Dedicated Bus Drop -Off
Loop.
MANAGER'S REVIEW.
The City staff met with representatives from the St. Anthony - New Brighton School District
#282 to review the planned improvements to their facilities. One of the improvements is to
develop a dedicated bus loop. The School District has proposed this bus loop on the existing
service road located on the west side of the St. Anthony Middle School building.
This service road is City -owned. There is an agreement between the City and School District
that allows the school district the use of the service road in exchange for improvements that
were completed by the District in 1999.
City Staff has consulted with City consultants to identify and coordinate the District's
proposed site modifications with any upcoming improvements that the City may be planning
in this vicinity. Through this process, it was determined that the replacement of
underground utilities and main water distribution piping would be needed sometime within
the next few years.
City Staff could work concurrently with the School District in upgrading the underground
utilities as the School District implements the new dedicated bus loop.
Michae'nson
City Manager
ZACouncil Meetings\20091011320095staffres09015 SANG building improvements.doe
55
