City Council Regular Meeting Minutes January 13, 2009 Page 4 Arbors Neighborhood Meeting is scheduled for January 26t" on the petition relating to the unimproved alley. ® Council Chamber improvements were recently completed. Kids vs. Cops basketball game is scheduled for January 30"' at the High School. 5 M Police Citizen Academy 6 W Police will be teaching a CSI class at the High School. 7 N Junior Achievement is scheduled with 2`1 grade students for February and March. 8 M Emerald Park —bid opening will be February 27tt'. 10 Mayor Faust requested Mr. Monson to pass on to the Police Chief the importance of the Police 11 Department's work with the children. 12 13 Councilmember Thuesen asked if the Water Re -Use Project is complete other than the final 14 grading. Mr. Morrison replied it will likely be June or July before the project is up and running. 15 The Silver Lake Road Project is under the same timeframe. Work remaining is the final lift, 16 sodding and trees to be planted. 17 18 Councilmember Stille reported on his attendance at the January 11, 2009 Sister City Association 19 meeting. The Association, in conjunction with. Salo, is arranging for three students and a teacher 20 to attend a summit from Salo's other sister cities throughout Europe and Russia. The Association 21 was able to provide $2,500 which covers a good share of the travel expenses. He suggested that 22 the students show their presentations to the Council at some time in the future. 23 24 Councilmember Thuesen: No report. 25 26 Mayor Faust reported on his attendance at the Mississippi Watershed Management Organization 27 (MWMO) meeting today, January 13, 2009. The City has received the Freshwater Society 28 Award which will be presented at the 8"' Annual Road/Salt Symposium. He was re-elected as 29 vice chair of the MWMO. The organization will be moving forward with construction of a new 30 building and has submitted a letter of intent to purchase a piece of property. Further information 31 will be available in a couple of months. 32 33 VIII. COMMUNITY FORUM. 34 35 Mayor Faust invited residents to come forward at this time and address the Council on items that 36 are not on the regular agenda. 37 38 Bearing none, Mayor Faust moved forward with the agenda. 39 40 I%.
