We have discovered that their valuable training works in the real world and <br />we thank them for that. <br />A small portion of Officer Dokken's and Officer Mosby's driving skills <br />were seen by a national audience while pursuing a bank robber in 2008. Our <br />department logs thousands of routine, in progress, and pursuit miles each <br />year. Once every three years, each Officer must spend time on a driving <br />course where the officer is placed at, the top of their limits. livery 2008 non <br />probationary Officer is pursuit Intervention Tactics trained and certified. <br />This training is intense. The training is mandatory. The cost takes a high <br />percentage of our training budget, but is worth every penny. <br />Katrina .loscph of I jughes and Costello helped us with Legal update training, <br />Q and A. covering today's hot topics such as search and seizure, reasonable <br />suspicion v, probable cause _ case law, new laws, and enhancements made for <br />a fun lim(; watching the interaction of thought, This training will also help <br />keep us out of the civil court roorn. It was deo refreshing to sce things from) <br />a !rue. prosecutors vi w l:xoirrt. <br />Below is some of the training; the department lras received in 2008: <br />m Missing and Exploited Children <br />In Custody Death Prevention <br />Investigation (sexual, on Line, death, computer, background, ...) <br />a Special Operations (planning, control, execution) <br />® Supervisor/Management. <br />Interviewing <br />® Intoxilyzer Operation Certification <br />* Officer Survival <br />Bike Patrol Certification <br />Armorer <br />® School Crime <br />* Incident Response <br />Not including clerical, WMD, SWAT, and Reserves our department logged <br />a minimum of 1379 hours of training: 73 percent of which was POST <br />certified. These numbers are down slightly from 2007, but the training costs <br />were higher. <br />16 <br />
