Staff advised Mr. Bjornrud of the process and the City's <br />sign ordinance at 155.29 DISTRICT SCHEDULES, (D), states that while electronic signs are permitted with <br />an approved CUP in a Recreational/ Open Space Zoning District; flashing and animation are not permitted <br />(2)(a); and hours of operation are restricted (2)(b). <br />Application Review and Analysis: As part of the application, Mr. Bjornrud indicated that the proposed <br />electronic sign will replace the two (2) signs that existed previously; one identified the St. Anthony Middles <br />School and one identified the St. Anthony High School. One double -sided electronic sign will be used by <br />both schools to communicate events to the community. <br />1. The requested conditional use is one of the Permitted Conditional Uses specifically listed for <br />the zoning district in which the conditional use is located. City Code at 155.29 DISTRICT <br />SCHEDULES, (D) Recreational Open Space, states that electronic signs are permitted with an <br />approved CUP in the Recreational/ Open Space zoning district. <br />2. That the requested conditional use permit will not be detrimental to health, safety or general <br />welfare of persons residing or working in the vicinity or injurious to property values of <br />improvements in the area. The School District plans to replace the two (2) existing ground signs at <br />the St. Anthony Middle School and the St. Anthony High School with one electronic sign. Mx. <br />Bjornrud has indicated that the School District will adhere to City requirements regarding hours of <br />operation of the sign. The City Code states that in no event shall the sign be permitted to be operated <br />between the hours of 10:00 p.m, and 6:00 a.m., 155.29(D)(2)(b). <br />07212009 Council CUP 3303 33rd Ave electronic sign.doc <br />
