City Council Regular Meeting Minutes October 26, 2010 Page 4 1 City Manager Mornson presented the Third Quarter Goals Update. Progress has been made on 2 42 items, covering all seven goals, with twelve action items completed. A large portion of the 3 action items will be on-going from year to year. 4 5 Mayor Faust stated in regards Environmental Stewardship, he and Councilmember Jenson met 6 with a representative at the University of Minnesota regarding how the City can become a 7 GreenStep City. The first step in the requirements it to adopt a resolution stating the City's 8 intent. He requested discussion on whether the Council would be interested in directing staff to 9 look at the potential of the City's participation in the GreenStep Program or potentially 10 incorporating this into the 2011 Goals. He clarified he is not advocating spending funds on 11 consultants or taking staff time away from other items being worked on. He pointed out that the 12 City has likely met many of the requirements, and that the resolution would be the last action 13 item once the City's status in relation to the requirements has been determined. 14 15 Council consensus was interest in further consideration of involvement in the GreenStep 16 Program. 17 18 Mayor Faust noted that the Spring newsletter included the pyramid of City Council Goals and 19 stated his encouragement that individuals and organizations have worked in partnership with the 20 City to work towards accomplishing items included in the goals. He commended staff on its 21 hard work. 22 23 City Manager Mornson commented on the awards the City has received on the water reuse 24 project and stated the City of St. Anthony is looked at as a leader in the metro area in its 25 accomplishments. 26 27 VTI. REPORTS FROM CITY MANAGER AND COUNCIL MEMBERS. 28 29 City Manager Morrison reported on the following: 30 • The 2010 Street Improvement Project is complete. 31 • All establishments have passed the Police Department Liquor Compliance Check. 32 • The City Engineer will be present at the November 9, 2010 City Council meeting to 33 discuss the 2011 Street Improvement Project. 34 • Congressman Keith Ellison will be present at the November 23, 2010 City Council 35 meeting to discuss the upcoming legislative session. 36 37 COUnellmember Roth: No report. 38 39 Councilmember Stille: No report. 40 41 Councilmember Gray: No report. 42 43 Councilmember Jenson: No report. 44 45 Mayor Faust reported on his attendance at the October 13°i and October 19°' Middle Mississippi 46 Watershed Management Organization EAccutive Committee Meeting and the October 19°i
