4City Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br />April 10, 2012 <br />Page 4 <br />funding to be a host site to have a GreenCorps member placed in the City for eleven months <br />beginning in September. <br />Councilmember Gray requested confirmation that the City would participate in the GreenCorps <br />program only if it received the grant. He also asked if the grant would cover all the City's <br />expenses and no funds would be expended by the City. <br />8 City Manager Casey replied that the City would only participate in the GreenCorps program if <br />9 funding were received. He added the City would only be required to provide approximately two <br />10 hours of supervision per week as well as filling out log sheets and evaluations. <br />11 <br />12 Mayor Faust stated the GreenCorps program is an eleven month program that benefits the City <br />13 and will further the City's environmental endeavors. He expressed thanks to City Manager <br />14 Casey for pursuing the GreenCorps program funding. <br />15 <br />16 Motion by Councilmember Gray, seconded by Councilmember Jenson, to approve Resolution <br />17 12-043; Authorizing Participation in the 2012-2013 GreenCorps Program. <br />18 <br />19 Mayor Faust noted that participation in the GreenCorps program will go hand in hand with the <br />20 University of Minnesota's project on sustainability as well as the Green Step program and the <br />21 City's work with the Freshwater Society. <br />22 <br />23 Motion carried unanimously. <br />24 <br />25 D. Quarterly Goals Update. Mark Casey, City Manager, presenting, <br />26 <br />27 City Manager Casey presented the first quarter goals update and stated that 53 goals were <br />28 identified with each goal assigned to a staff member to ensure completion. He provided a brief <br />29 update on the following goals: <br />30 <br />31 • The City is continuing its work on the Green Step program. <br />32 • Review of the City's organizational structure is complete and recommendations are being <br />33 implemented. <br />34 • City staff has met with Chamber of Commerce officials and is working on solidifying its <br />35 goals. <br />36 • City staff will continue to explore a joint fiber partnership as well as a cultural -historical <br />37 center. <br />38 <br />39 VII.
