Fire Code <br />PERMITS <br />The Fire Marshal’s office issues campfire permits to ensure safety conditions are met and pollution <br />issues are minimized. In addition, there are several other permits outlined in the State Fire Code and <br />required by City Code. Fire alarm, temporary occupancy, hot works, hazardous materials, and burn <br />permits are a few of the other permits. In 2013, 137 campfire permits were issued. <br />CONSTRUCTION PLAN REVIEW <br />The Fire Department completes construction plan <br />reviews to ensure compliance with the State and <br />National codes in the area of site plan, fire alarm <br />systems, fire sprinkler systems, egress plans, hazardous <br />operations, construction and operational plans. The <br />Fire Marshal was quite busy completing 146.5 hours. <br />These hours consisted of coorespondence, training, <br />code research, plan review, and data entry. <br />INSPECTIONS <br />Inspections of buildings and facilities are conducted to ensure <br />compliance with State and National codes and standards. These <br />inspection include general fire prevention inspections and inspections <br />of specific systems and services. The specific inspections involve fire <br />protection systems including restaurant hood extinguishing systems, <br />fire alarm and fire sprinkler systems. Inspections are broken down for <br />2013 in the follow categories: <br />Type Number Man Hours <br />General Inspection 36 39 <br />Inspection Follow Up 36 17 <br />Hood Extinguishing System 1 .5 <br />Fire Alarm Final 1 2.5 <br />Certificate of Occupancy 10 5.5 <br />Public Safety Registration 2 1 <br />Complaint Inspection 2 .25 <br />Total 88 66.25 <br />Research & Follow Up 37.00 <br />Grand Total 88 103.25
