Department Divisions <br /> <br />The Public Works Department is divided into five (5) divisions: Streets, Parks, Water/Sewer, <br />Vehicle Maintenance, and City Buildings. <br />STREET DIVISION <br />The Street Division is responsible for the repair and maintenance of the City’s street <br />network. They are responsible for snow and ice control in the winter months, as <br />well as asphalt repairs and street sweeping during the summer months. <br />In 2013 the Public Works Department Street Division conducted seven (7) street <br />sweepings City-wide. 39 tons of asphalt repair work also took place. <br />In the 2013/2014 winter season there were 18 snow/ice events and 9 citywide <br />plowing events. During those times the following quantity of events were utilized: <br />• Salt usage – 275 tons (200 tons in 2012) <br />• Salt brine – 2,425 gallons (3,515 gallons in 2012) <br />• Sand – 30 tons (minimal sand used in 2012) <br />PARKS DIVISION <br />The City Parks Division maintains Emerald Park, Central Park, Tower Park, <br />Silver Point Park, and Trillium Park. The Parks Division is also responsible for <br />the maintenance of the stormwater retention ponds, ditch lines and City owned <br />properties. <br />Another aspect of the Parks Division is to staff and maintain the City’s ice <br />skating rinks. The ice skating rinks were open for 11 weeks (65 days) during the <br />2013/2014 winter season to date. Of these 11 weeks, the ice skating rinks have <br />been closed for a total of 10 days due to the weather, as well as one day for the <br />Christmas holiday. The total attendance on the ice skating rinks in 2013 was <br />3,503 which is up from 2012 (3,292). On average, there were approxiamtely <br />319 skaters per week or 46 skaters per day that enjoyed our rinks in 2013. <br />• Emerald – 1,355 (1,271 in 2012) <br />• Central- 1,198 (950 in 2012) <br />• Silver Point – 950 (1,071 in 2012) <br />WATER/SEWER DIVISION <br />The Water/Sewer Division of the City of St. Anthony’s Public Works Department <br />is responsible for the maintenance of the City’s water and sewer infrastructure. <br />This division is responsible for annual hydrant flushing (spring/fall), maintaining <br />the as-built records and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) upgrades, and <br />water main repairs. This Division also provided the Consumer Confidence Report <br />(CCR), which is a mandated report by the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) <br />to provide a report to our residents explaining the production and test results of <br />our drinking water. <br />In 2013 the Water/Sewer Division responded to and repaired: <br />• 3 service leakes (4 in 2012) <br />• 9 water main breaks (10 in 2012)
