X. Crime Prevention Summary <br />2013 Annual Report · Police Department · St. Anthony Village, Minnesota <br />17 <br />February: <br />• Seven of our Reserve Officers each volunteered over twelve hours of their time to assist at the Mardi <br />Gras event at St. Charles school. <br />• Reserve Officers volunteered at the Wilshire Elementary school Fun Fest. <br />• Chief John Ohl met with staff at the SAVHS and updated our Mass Dispensing Plan. <br />March: <br />• Sgt. Jeff Spiess provided a presentation to the residents of Chandler Place regarding scams targeting seniors. <br />• Officers Dale Moore and Ryan Baker attended the annual Boy Scout Pack 153 Pinewood Derby and <br />competed in the “Celebrity Race”. <br />April: <br />• Officers Dale Moore and Joseph Kauser attended the Night to Unite awards ceremony at the MN <br />Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. <br />• Officer Tressa Sunde completed forty hours of instruction and was certified in crime prevention <br />through environmental design (CEPTED). The class was sponsored by the Minnesota Crime <br />Prevention Association <br /> <br />May: <br />• Officer Jeronimo Yanez took part in the Standing of the Memorial <br />Guard event as part of Law Enforcement Memorial Day and National <br />Peace Officer’s Day (May 15th). He participated by standing watch at <br />the Law Enforcement Memorial Monument, in front of the Capitol. <br />• Officers Jim South and Kiel Rushton attended the St. Anthony Fire <br />Relief Association fundraiser. They provided squad car tours to <br />children and parents. <br />• Officer Jim South was invited to attend an SAV Liquor departmental <br />meeting where he spoke to staff regarding theft prevention and other <br />safety related topics. <br />June: <br />• Sgt. Jeff Spiess was present at the Community Center while <br />graduating seniors signed in and boarded the buses for the “Senior All <br />Night Party”. He assisted with organizing an orderly send off. <br />• Sgt. Jon Mangseth gave a crime prevention presentation to the <br />residents at Kenzington Condominiums. Topics included calling 911 <br />and crime prevention for seniors. <br />• Officer Tressa Sunde was invited to Silverwood Park where she assisted <br />Boy Scout Troop 711 with search and rescue merit badge scenarios. <br />• Chief Ohl, Capt. Cotroneo, Officers Sroga and Spiess, along with <br />family members, ran a 3 mile leg of the Law Enforcement Torch run to <br />benefit Special Olympics.
