<br />City of Falcon Heights <br />City Council Minutes <br />July 12, 2000 <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Gehrz at 7:00 p.m. <br />PRESENT: Gehrz, Hustad, Kuettel, Lindstrom, Talbot. Also present: Heather <br />Worthington, City Administrator <br />ABSENT: Pat Phillips, Deputy Clerk <br />COMMUNITY FORUM: There was no one present wishing to speak. <br />MINUTES: The minutes of June 28, 2000 were approved as written. <br />CONSENT AGENDA: <br />1. General disbursements and payroll <br />2. Approval of the Partial Pay Estimate No. 1 from T. A. Schifsky & Sons for the <br />2000 Alley Improvements Project <br />• POLICY AGENDA <br />Hiring of a permanent, part-time fire inspector <br />Administrator Worthington said that Kevin Kelly, a deputy fire marshal with the State of <br />Minnesota, has been hired as a fire inspector projected to work 10% time or 6 hours per <br />week. He will do fire inspections for Falcon Heights and Lauderdale. Worthington said <br />he was hired as an employee of the city rather than a contracted person because he then <br />will be covered by the city's liability insurance. Councilmember Talbot moved to hire <br />Kelly beginning on July 17, 2000. The motion passed unanimously. <br />Discussion of preliminary items for upcoming budget workshops <br />Administrator Worthington asked council to be thinking about the 2001 budget and to set <br />some dates for the upcoming budget workshops. Worthington said there were a couple of <br />capital expenditures that she was aware of and that was the possibility of purchasing a <br />new fire truck and also doing some street repairs in the Northome area of the city. After <br />conferring with councilmembers, Mayor Gehrz set the budget workshops for July 26 and <br />August 23`d. A September 6a` workshop will beheld if needed. All the workshops will <br />begin at 6:00 P.M. <br />• <br />
