[i <br />[] <br /> <br />MINUTES <br />REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />SEPTEMBER 12, 1979 <br />A regular meeting of the Falcon Heights City Council was called to <br />order by Mayor Warkentien at 6:00 p.m. <br />Mayor Warkentien, Councilmembers Steele, McGough, Brown and Stone. <br />Also present were Clerk Administrator Barnes and Engineer Lemberg. <br />None. <br />Clerk Administrator Barnes presented to Council the proposed 1980 <br />Budget for discussion. Fire Chief Renchin also presented his de- <br />partments' 1980 Budget. <br />During the item by item examination the following items were deleted <br />or changed: <br />Councilmember Steele moved, seconded by Councilmember McGough that <br />the City membership in the Ramsey County League be discontinued in <br />1980. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Councilmember Steele moved, seconded by Councilmember McGough, that <br />in 1980 the City eliminate the fall dump lowering that portion of <br />the Budget to $2,000. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Phil Shively and Sandy Larson, representing the Recreation Advisory <br />Committee, presented a revision of that Committees' Budget as follows: <br />(1) A maximum of $3,000.00 to cover the difference between the <br />amount the Roseville Recreation Department charges Roseville <br />residents and the amount charged Falcon Heights residents. <br />(2) Reinstate $1,000.00 for the Hockey Program <br />(3) Discontinue all ice rinks except for those at Falcon Woods Park, <br />thus reducing the cost of winter recreation <br />After some discussion Councilmember McGough moved, seconded by Council- <br />member Brown, to approve the above changes. Upon a vote being taken the <br />following voted "aye": Mayor Warkentien, Councilmembers Steele, McGough <br />and Brown, and the following voted "nay": Councilmember Stone. Motion <br />carried. <br />PRESENT <br />ABSENT <br />7~ <br />PROPOSED 1980 <br />BUDGET DISCUSSION <br />,~ <br />Jim Jernberg, 1540 W. Iowa, .requested that Council consider having the <br />Idaho-Snelling Rink open for the 1970-1980 season to be manned by volun- <br />teers with the City providing the cost of utilities. Mayor Warkentien <br />moved, seconded by Councilmember McGough that the Idaho-Snelling Rink <br />be kept open on a volunteer basis. Upon a vote being taken the follow- <br />ing voted "aye": Mayor Warkentien, and the following voted "nay": Council- <br />members Steele, McGough, Brown and Stone. Motion defeated. <br />The Budget study will be continued at a future meeting. <br />Ellen Hunter, representing International Systems, Inc., Atlanta, Georgia, ELLEN HUNTER <br />(a grant assistance firm) explained to Council details of the firm's INTERNATIONAL <br />procedure for acquiring grants. Council requested that more specific SYSTEMS, INC. <br />information be provided before any action is taken. <br /> <br />
