3 6, <br />LJ <br /> <br /> <br />MINUTES OF REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING <br />FALCON HEIGHTS, MINNESOTA <br />APRIL 8, 19?6 <br />A regular meeting of the Falcon Heights City Council was called <br />to order by Mayor Warkentien at 7:00 p.n-. <br />Mayor Warkentien, Councilmen Black, Ecklund, Steele, and PRESENT <br />Labalestra. Also present were Clerk-Administrator Barnes, <br />Engineers Lemberg and Cook, and Attorney Kenefick. <br />None. ABSENT <br />Moved by Councilman Steele, seconded by Councilman Labalestra APPROVAL OF <br />to approve the Minutes of the regular meeting of March 25, 1976, MINUTES: <br />as submitted. Upon a vote being taken, the following voted "aye": MARCH 25, <br />Mayor Warkentien, Councilmen Black, Ecklund, Steele, and Labales- 1976 <br />tra, and the following voted "nay": None. Motion carried. <br />Mayor Warkentien told those present that the meeting tonight <br />also included a discussion of proposed improve¢nents to Garden <br />Avenue from Snelling Drive to Hamline Avenue. He stated this <br />was an informational meeting only and that Council was hoping <br />to take final action on these improvements at the meeting of <br />April 22, 1976. <br />Engineer Lemberg reviewed the history of the street and explained <br />it was in need of repair at present. He stated the street had <br />been accepted as a Minnesota State Aid Street in 1973, and thus <br />qualified for MSA funds, if reconstruction met State Aid regu- <br />lations. <br />Engineer Lemberg noted the street at present varied in width <br />from 32 feet 7 inches to !~1 feet 8 inches. He stated that one <br />of the reasons for the meeting this evening was to help deter- <br />mine the width of the street should the proposed reconstruction <br />take place. <br />Engineer Lemberg summarized a letter from the State Department <br />of Highways concerning a request to construct Arona Avenue at a <br />32 foot width. The letter, dated April 6, 1976, noted Arona Avenue <br />could be constructed at a 32 foot width, but also indicated that <br />it was hoped future traffic and functions of the roadway should be <br />thoroughly considered. <br />Mr. Lemberg explained State Aid funding and noted that Garden <br />Avenue construction would not involve assessments. He proposed <br />that the street be 36 feet wid®, with concrete curb and gutter, <br />sidewalk on one side, and built at a 9 ton capacity. <br />DISCUSSION: <br />GARDEN <br />AVENUE <br />IMPROVEMENTS <br />
