MINUTES <br />REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING <br />FALCON HEIGHTS, MINNESOTA ,~ <br />JANUARY 13, 1977 <br />A regular meeting of the Falcon Heights City Council was called to order <br />by Mayor Warkentien at 7:25 p.m. <br />Mayor Warkentien, Councilman Black, Ecklund, Steele and Labalestra. PRESENT <br />Also present were Clerk-Administrator Barnes, Attorney Kenefick and <br />Engineer Lemberg. <br />None. ABSENT <br />Moved by Councilman Ecklund, seconded by Councilman Steele to approve APPROVAL OF <br />the items on the Consent Agenda as follows: CONSENT AGENDA <br />1. Building Inspectors December, 1976, permit report. <br />2. Yellen & Associates November, 1976, Liquor Store Income Report. <br />3. General disbursements in the amount of $26,889.82. <br />1~. Liquor disbursements in the amount of $3,917.17. Year ending 1976. <br />5. Liquor disbursements in the amount of $16,830.76. 1st half January, 1977. <br />Upon a vote being taken the following voted "aye": Mayor Warkentien, <br />Councilman Ecklund, Steele and Labalestra. Councilman Black had not yet <br />arrived. The following voted "nay": None. Motion carried. <br />Clerk-Administrator Barnes informed Council that the City has received DISCUSSION OF <br />numerous complaints from citizens concerning sanding being done on the STREET SANDING <br />street. Some citizens have complained there is no need for sanding <br />and don't want all that mess and others had asked for more extensive <br />sanding. <br />Council directed Clerk-Administrator Barnes to contact the Ramsey County <br />Highway Department and instruct them to sand at intersections only. <br />On behalf of the City of Falcon Heights, Mayor Warkentien presented a PRESENTATION OF <br />plaque to George W. Plant in appreciation for his 16 years of service PLAQUE TO GEORGE <br />as a member and Chairman of the Planning Commission. Mr. Plant was PLANT FOR PLANNING <br />present to accept the plaque and expressed this thanks to the City and COMMISSION SERVICE <br />the Councilmembers. <br />Councilman Ecklund stated that he had occasion to be in the City offices DISCUSSION ON <br />over the weekend and stated that there were many phone calls. Council- TELEPHONE ANSWER- <br />man Ecklund suggested the Council consider the purchase of a telephone ING DEVICES <br />answering machine which would refer callers to another number such as <br />the Ramsey County Emergency No. 1~8l~-3366. The Council directed C1erk- <br />Administrator Barnes to get prices on various types of answering devices. <br />Fire Chief Renchin appeared before Council to discuss the installation DISCUSSION ON <br />of smoke detectors in apartment houses in Falcon Heights. Chief Renchin SMOKE DETECTORS - <br />requested that the Council consider passing an Ordinance requiring CHIEF RENCHIN <br />apartment owners to install smoke detectors in all apartment units rather <br />than just the common areas. <br />
