<br />MINUTES OF RDGULAR COUNCIL MEETING <br />FALCON HEIGHTS, MINNESOTA <br />APRIL 27, 1972 <br />A regular meeting of the Falcon Heights Council was called to order by Mayor <br />Warkentien at 7:l~0 P.M. <br />PRESENT: Mayor Warkentien, Coup dlmen Black, Ecklund, Stone and Taylor. Also <br />present were Clerk-Administrator Barnes, Engineer Lemberg and Attorney <br />Seed. <br />ABSENT : None <br />Minutes: Motion by Councilman Stone, seconded by Councilman B1.ack, <br />to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of April 13, <br />1972, as corrected. Motion carried. <br />Justice of the Motion by Councilman Stone, seconded by Mayor Warkentien, <br />Peace Proposal: that the Village permit the Justices of the Peace to <br />inaugurate a 6 month program with the University of Minne- <br />sota Law School, sub3ect to the Village Council's approval. <br />This program is intended to substantially reduce the high <br />legal fees incurred in the past for Justice Court. The <br />agreement shall b e drawn up between the University Law <br />School and the Village of Falcon Heights shall stipulate <br />a retainer of $25 per evening plus transportation and other <br />reasonable expense. Motion carried. <br />Request for Curb Mr. Willard Haakenson, Willard's Sewer Cleaning Service, <br />and Gutter on 1720 North Snelling Drive, requested that curb and gutter <br />Crawford Street: be installed along Crawford Street from Snelling Drive <br />easterly one block. It was suggested that Mr. Haakenson <br />obtain petitions from neighbors who would be assessed, <br />and submit to the Council for consideration. <br />Recreation Advisory Mr. John Quast, Chairman, Recreation Advisory Committee, <br />Committee Present presented to the Council a report and recommendations for <br />to Discuss Summer the 1972 summer recreation program. After reviewing the <br />Program: report, Councilman Stone suggested eliminating the Idaho- <br /> Snelling playground because of low attendance during the <br /> summer of 1971. Chairman Quast indicated that if the <br /> Idaho-Shelling park area was not upgraded a summer program <br /> would be of little significance. Clerk-Administrator Barnes <br /> reported that he has a quote from the County to dredge and <br /> grade the area for $611.0. He also indicated that he was <br /> atte:r-pting to negotiate with the State and County to assist <br /> with the upgrading, dividing the cost one-third each. It <br /> was suggested during the discussion that the Council might <br /> take under advisement, installing a pump station in this <br /> area. <br /> Mr. Charles Boudreau, University of Minnesota Recreation <br /> Instructor, was present and stated that if the Snelling- <br /> Idaho playground could not be utilized this year that the <br /> Village consider busing the children from this area to <br />
