MEETING OF APRIL 9, 1970 <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />2973 <br />The regular meeting of April 9, 1970 was called to order at 7:05 P.M. with the <br />following members present: Mayor Warkentien, Clerk Taylor, Councilmen Black, <br />Ecklund and Stone. Also present was Treasurer Olsen. Engineer Lemberg arrived <br />at 7:30 and Attorney Seed at 7:10 P.M. <br />Minutes: Ecklund moved that the minutes of the March 26, 1970 <br />meeting be approved as corrected. Black seconded and <br />the motion carried.. <br />League of Mrs. Faye Olson, President, Mrs. Betty Jones, Past Presi- <br />Women Voters : dent, and Ms. Mary Waleto, member, of the League of Women <br />Voters were present at the meeting to obtain a photograph <br />of Mayor Warkentien and his cooperation in promoting the <br />petition drive to gain representation in the II. S. Con- <br />gress for District of Columbia. Miss Bitty Jones, daugh- <br />ter of Betty was the photographer. <br />Certified Public Carl Pearson, Certified Public Accountant, reported that <br />Accountant's Report: because of illness on the staff of his office they cannot <br />finish auditing the Village books at this time. <br />Investment The possibility of more advantageous imresting of Village <br />Procedures: funds was discussed by the Council. Treasurer Olsen will <br />continue to investigate the possibility of changing the <br />Village investment procedures. <br />Letter to Dr. Taylor read a letter draft~ci by the Village Engineer to <br />Robert Thatcher: be written to Dr. Robert Thatcher, 1859 North Snelling <br />Avenue, regarding no~i.ous weeds and thistles on his p~op- <br />erty. (Letter sent 4-13-70) <br />Sidewalk Complaint Taylor read a letter written by Aaron Norberg, 1li71 West <br />Letter: Iowa Avenue, regarding sidewalk damage. The Village Engin- <br />eer was instructed to cheek the damage and report to the <br />Council. <br />Water Rate Engineer reported thatthe Ramsey County League of MYni- <br />Survey: cipalities select four consulting firms to make proposals <br />for a water rate survey. <br />Dwight Reichow - Engineer Lemberg reported that he had checked the side~wa].k <br />Sidewalk Cannplaint : coanplaint of Dwight Reichow, 1.?a97 West Iowa Avenue, and <br />found that one section of sidewalk needed repairing or <br />rsplaceenent. <br />Hollywood Court Engineer Lemberg reported that Hollywood Court would need <br />Street Repairs: street repairs this spring. <br />Street Sweeping: Engineer Lemberg recommended that the Village streets be <br />swept shortly after May 1, 1970. <br />Stone moved that the Village Engineer be authorized to <br />arrange for street sweeping. Taylor seconded and the <br />motion carried. <br />
