2985 <br />MEETING OF JUNE 11, 1970 <br />The regular meeting of June 11, 1970 was called to order at 7:00 P.M. with the <br />following members present: Mayor Warkentien, Councilmen Black and Stone. Also <br />present were Treasurer Olsen and Engineer Lemberg. Attorney Zdra2il arrived at <br />7:25 P.M. Absent were Clerk T~y1or and Councilman Ecklund. <br />Minutes: Stone moved that the minutes of the May 28, 1970 meeting <br />be approved as corrected. Black seconded and the motion <br />carried. <br />Northwestern Bell Warkentien read a letter from the Northwestern Bell Te1e- <br />Telephone Company phone Compaq requesting the Mayors signature on an ap- <br />Buried Cable: placation to bury telephone cable on the east side of <br />Cleveland Avenue in Falcon Heights. Warkentien moved that <br />the application be referred to the Village Engineer. Stone <br />seconded and the motion carried. <br />Variance Request - Black moved that the application for variance submitted by <br />18L~6 Arona Avenue: Richard Shibrowski, 18l~6 Arona Avenue, be denied in accord- <br />ance with the recommendation of the Falcon heights Plarming <br />Commission, but that the double garage could be built with <br />a five-foot side yard set-back as per ordinance. Stone <br />seconded and the motion carried. <br />Variance Request - Black moved that the application for variance submitted by <br />1735 Asbury Avenue: Floyd Schmid, 1?35 Asbury Avenue, to build a rear yard red <br />_ wood deck, be granted, providing that at least 7 feet 2 in- <br /> ches of space be allowed between the deck and therear prop- <br /> erty line and also, with the provision that no upright struc- <br /> ture other than a 30 inch high railing be erected. Warken- <br /> tien seconded and the motion carried. <br />Reconsideration Tom Ruvelson, Representative of the Macey Sign Company, <br />of Sign Lighting - John Labalestra and Gene Gasperro of the Lido Corporation, <br />Lido Corporation, 1611 West Larpenteur Avenue, appeared at the meeting to <br />1611 West ask for reconsideration of the proposed lighting of the <br />Larpenteur Avenue: sign which is being moved to the parking area. <br /> Black made a motion, seconded by Stone, for reconsideration <br /> of the Lido Corporation request, to the matter pertaining <br /> to the lighting of the sign. Mr. Ruvelson explained that <br /> the arrow would be about !~ feet by 3'~ feet and would con- <br /> tain t~8 - 11 watt lamps on each side. The color of the <br /> lamps would be a frosted white. Effect of the arrow s~i]1 <br /> be of a continuous flowing motion from the southern most <br /> point of the arrow to the nmrthern most point of the arrow. <br /> The total cycle of all motion of the lamps would be com- <br /> pleted within ~ seconds. <br /> Black moved that the application for variance, iti reference <br /> to the moving, flowing lights, submitted by the Lido Cor- <br /> poration, be granted in accordance with the specifications <br /> and description spelled out by Tom Ruirelson, of the Macey <br /> Sign Company. Stone seconded and the motion carried. <br />
