2988 <br />MEETING OF JUNE 25, 1970 <br />The regular meeting of June 25, 1970 was called to order at 7:00 P.M. with the <br />following members present: Mayor Warkentien, Councilmen Ecklund and Stone. En- <br />gineer Lemberg arrived at 7:30, Attorney Seed at 7:l~0 and Councilman Black at <br />9:15 P.M. Absent was Clerk Taylor. <br />Minutes: Stone moved that the minutes of the June 11. 1970 meeting <br />be approved as corrected. Warkentien seconded and the <br />motion carried. <br />Village Information The League of Women Voters proposes the printing of a new <br />Handbook: Village Hancmook. The last issue was printed in 1961. <br />Steve Farkas, appliance dealer from the area, volunteered <br />to contact businessmen in the area for contributions to <br />defray the cost of printing. <br />Permission to Steve Farkas of the Stellian Company, 1711 Snelling Avenue, <br />Install Sign: appeared at the meeting to request permission to install a <br />mew sign on the building. Because the dimensions would be <br />the same as, or less than the existing sign, a variance <br />will not be needed. <br />Recreation Recreation committee members present at the meeting to <br />Committee: discuss the progress of the stunner recreation program were: <br />Barbara Lukermann, Billie Foreman, Len Harkness, Bob Moore, <br />Ray Garcia and Miss Donna Seline, Director for 1970 Program. <br />Miss Seline reported that she was very much encouraged by <br />the participation in the program compared to other years. <br />Registration and attendance average at the four playgrounds <br />are: <br />Registrations Attendance Average <br />University Grove 18 13 <br />Falcon Woods 45 30 <br />Idaho-Snelling 27 16 <br />Falcon Heights School 96 35 <br />The Recreation Advisory Committee went on record recommen- <br />ding that the Village Council appropriate or authorize <br />funds for the following <br />Estimated <br />Amounts <br />1. ~ pieces of l~XS 3/l~ in exterior plywood <br />to be attached to tennis court fence in <br />the West Falcon Woods playground to form <br />a tennis backstop for serving practice. $ 90.00 <br />2.
