23J~1 <br />REGULAR ItEETING OF FEBRUARY 23, 1966 <br />The regular meeting was called to order at 7:00 P. M. with the following members <br />presents Acting Mayor Warkentien, Clerk Strandquist, Trustees Stone and Black. <br />Absents Mayor Nilsen. Also present were Treasurer Olsen, Engineer Lemberg and <br />Attorney Galvin. <br />Minutes: Black moved, seconded by Strandquist that the minutes- of <br />the regular meeting of February 9, 1966 be approved. Carried. <br />Financial Statement Certified Public Accountant Carl Pearson has completed. <br />for Year Ended Financial Statement and Audit for the year ended December 31, <br />December 31, 1965s 1965 and copies of same and accountants report were distri- <br />buted to council members. Stone moved, seconded by Black that <br />the Village Clerk be authorized to submit the Financial State- <br />ment to the Suburban Life Newspapers for official publication. <br />Ayes: A11. Nays: None. Motion was carried. <br />Workmen's Compensation Copy of The Decision of the Referee filed with the industrial <br />Hearing - Dewey A. Commission of Minnesota in the matter of Dewey A. Smith, Jr. <br />Smith, Jr.s vs. the Village of Falcon Heights and Iowa National Mutual <br />Insurance Company was reviewed. Clerk was requested to write <br />above insurer merely stating that this village council assumes <br />they are taking appropriate action. <br />Fire Chief Al Helbig: Fire Chief submitted written report dated February 23, 1966. <br />A short discussion of fire department activities was held. <br />Opening of Bids Clerk Strandquist read advertisement for bids as published <br />Police ear: in the5uburban Life Newspaper. One bid only was received <br />and same was from Fairview Plymouth. Warkentien moved, <br />seconded by Strandquist that the award of contract to purchase <br />police car be deferred until the next regular meeting of the <br />council, which is March 9, 1966. Ayes: A11. Nays: None. <br />Motion was carried. <br />Correspondence Letter of February 15, 1966 from Director of Ramsey County Civil <br />Ramsey County Defense advised of Basic Rescue Course beginning March 3, 1966. <br />Civil Defense: <br />Northern States Power Company~s letter of February 17, 1966 <br />Northern States stated that an additional X12,319 is being distributed to <br />Power Companys general service gas customers in the St. Paul Division. <br />Authorization to Stone moved, seconded by Black that W.C.A. Warkentien, <br />sign checks in Clerk's Trustee, be authorized to sign checks against the funds <br />absence: of the Village of Falcon Heights during the absence of the <br />Village Clerk from March 7, 1966 to P,garch 2~, 1966. Ayes: <br />All. Nays= None. Motion was carried. <br />Trees: Village Tree Consultant, Dr. Gus Hard's General Statement <br />on Tree Program dated February 23, 1966 was reviewed. Stone <br />moved, seconded by Strandquist that the Village Clerk be <br />Cottornvood Trees: instructed to address communication to the owners of <br />property on which two cottonwood trees have been planted <br />advising them they were planted in violation of ordinance <br />and requesting they be removed.
