1(~G~ <br />REGULAR I~~EETING, August 28th, 1958. <br />::Zeeting was celled to order at 7:30 P. ~L, the following Council L4embers <br />being present: Harold C. Nilsen, ~.4ayor; George Shavor, Trustee; Paul <br />Coppini, Trustee; Willis ~iJarkentien, Trustee; and l~:m. R. Utecht, Clerk. <br />Also present were Frank Iv. Graham, Village Attorney; Vernon Ljungren, <br />Village Engineer and ti"m. E. Olsen, Treasurer. 1~bsent: Ethel E. white, Deputy <br />Clerk and Deputy Treasurer. <br />The Minutes of the regular meeting of August 14th were arproved as submitted. <br />Schultz ~~.~r. Schultz's letter of August 4th, 1958 requesting that <br />Vacation one week of his this year's vacation be deferred until 1959 <br />so that he can take three weeks of vacation then to take his <br />family on a trip to Oregon was read. It was moved by Vdarken- <br />tien, seconded by Coppini and unanimously carried that rtSr. <br />Schultz's request be granted subject to the approval of the <br />Fire Chief and upon the condition that no precedent is to be <br />established by this action. The Clerk is to notify Mr. Schultz <br />by letter of this action, with a copy to be sent to the Fire Chief. <br />~'arthel The attorney's letter of August 22nd to ',4r. Greenstein was read. <br />Villas The P.ayor appointed George Shavor and Bob Johnson as a committee <br />to consider the purchase of the Aarthel Villas lots with the re- <br />quest that they report back to the Council at its next regular <br />meeting on September 11th, 1958. <br />Shades Letter of the Twin City Shade Company dated August 25th cuoting <br />on venetian ~;linds for the Village Hall was read. The Council <br />will receive some additional bids before an action is taken. <br />Tatum Steffes' letter of Augus+ 26th advising of the result of the <br />Street Twin City Testing Laboratory tests on Tatum Street showing <br />density in excess of 90~ was read. and ordered filed. <br />Garden Letter of County Engineer Bronson dated August 26th relating to <br />Avenue the unsatisfactory condition of Garden Avenue between Hamline <br />and Pascal was read and the Clerk was directed to make a copy <br />of this letter and send it to Steffes. <br />Minnesota After discussion it was moved by Coppini, seconded by Utecht <br />Sta+~e and unanimously carried that the claim of Earl Grumke, Herbert <br />Fire School Leier and Gordon Nelson in the amount of X5120.00 for compensa- <br />Expenses tion for time lost at employment and expenses while attending <br />the Minnesota State Fire School April 28th to P;~ay 2nd, 1958, <br />be paid and tha+ the Fire Chief be advised that in the future <br />persons attending such schools will receive expenses only in <br />amounts determined by the Council beforehand. <br />Falcon The. Mayor reported that work on the Falcon ?'~~oods street, accord- <br />Woods ing to Sina, would start Friday, August 29th, 1958. Vern Ljungren <br />reported that portions of the streets would be scarified and re- <br />shaped and some new aggregate would be brought in to build a <br />12 to 2 inch road mix. Firm areas in the present street are <br />not to be disturbed, only the broken area is to be reworked, ndr. <br />Ljungren will supervise the work. <br />Roselawn The Mayor reported that Mr. Chenoweth was checking the speed <br />Avenue limits on Roselawn and said he would wait until after Fair 4~eek <br />to complete his check.
