1~ <br />SPECIAL MEETING, MONDAY, APRIL 19, 1950 <br />Present: <br />H. L. Henry, Mayor <br />Geo. J. Shavor, Trustee <br />Arthur A. Lindig, " <br />Clarence Rekstad, " <br />Clyde J. Stewart, Clerk <br />Ralph Van Hoven, Treasurer <br />~=aakxM <br />Absent: Frank N. Graham, Attorney <br />Meeting called to order at ?:40 pm. It was agreed to defer reading of minutes until <br />the next regular monthly meeting, April 25, 1950. <br />Mental health Information relative to Mental Health Week was presented <br />week proclam- and the Mayor was requested to-issue a Mental Health 1~eek <br />ration. proclamation. <br />Taxicab license The application For taxicab license and franchise of I. <br />-and Franchise YlTiae, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, was discussed. It was <br />denied. then moved by Lindig, seconded by Henry, that it is not in <br />the interest of the Village, nor wise to incur the expense <br />necessary, to pass a taxicab ordinance or to grant an ex- <br />clusive franchise at this time, and that the clerk so inform <br />the applicant. Motion parried by unanimous vote and <br />application denied. <br />Vacations, sick Harry Anderson inquired as to what the council wished to do <br />time, Fire school, <br />Firemen's Convention. with regard to vacations for firemen and about having someone <br />to relieve them at such times and during periods of aipknesa. <br /> Also mentioned the Northwest Fi re School, to be held in St Paul <br /> May 1,2,3 and 4, and question of attendance by Swanson or <br /> Imhoff. Also the question of their attending the State Firemen's <br /> convention, to be held at New Ulm, Minnesota, June 12, 13 and <br /> 14. Stewart moved that these questions be referred to the Fire <br /> Protection committee for their repommendations and an estimate <br /> of expenses involved. Seconded by Lindig and carried. <br />AppllanaeStore The committee, consisting of Shavor, Rekstad and Reiohow, <br />Building Permit recommended that building permit be granted to Mr. Douglas <br />approved. Rees, on the south 50 feet of the east 22 Peet of Lot 13, <br /> Block 10, Falcon Heights, with the provision that the remain- <br /> der of said lot be brought to grade and blaaktopped for park- <br /> ing purposes. Stewart moved acpeptance oP the committee's <br /> recommendation. Seconded by Henry and carried. <br />Pure Oil Co. asked The clerk was requested to write the Pure Oil Company, of <br />to grade & surface St Paul, suggesting that they grade and surface their lot at <br />rear of their lot. 1525 Larpenteur Avenue West, for parking purposes. <br />Bond for Clerk The clerk reported that his corporate surety bond would <br /> expire as .of April 19, 1950. Henry moved, seconded by <br /> Lindig, that the bond be renewed in the amount of #500.00. <br /> Carri ed. <br />Special meeting The clerk also reported on contacting Buatow and A. V. Winterer <br />to be held re regarding balance due the latter on plu~bing and heating con- <br />plumbing and tract. As recommended by Mr. Buetow and concurred in by Mr. <br />heating. Winterer, Rekstad moved that John Rysgaard be notified to call <br />
