Stenzinger, b"ayor; George J. Shavor, Trustee; Andrew <br />Hustrulid., Trustee; David P. Cartwright, Trustee; Clyde J. Stewart, Clerk. Also <br />present - ~ti`illiam E. Olsen, Treasurer, and FrankDT. Graham, Attorney. <br />Minutes of regular meeting, October 27, 1954, were heard and approved as read. <br />Trunk Highway Letter of November 3, 1954, from M. J. Hoffmann, Commissioner <br />#10 thru of Highways, Minnesota Highway Department, was read, acknowledg- <br />Island Lake ing copy of the council's resolution of October 27, opposing <br />construction of new trunk highway 10 across property surrounding <br />Island Lake, and presenting the Highway Department's position in <br />the matter. After discussion, Hustrulid. moved that Commissioner <br />Hoffman be invited to appear before the council as he expressed <br />a willingness to do, and that Claude Allen also be asked to <br />attend. Seconded by Cartwrightand motion carried unanimously. <br />Advisory vote- Letter of November 3, 1954, submitting certification of the <br />b~unicipal store advisory ballot on off-sale municipal liquor store, held <br />on the first floor of the Village Hall, November 2, 1954, <br />said ce rtification being signed by legislative committee <br />members, Lynn r4atteson, John W, Gasink and Kenneth P. Hanson. <br />Shavor moved that the report be accepted. and that the result <br />be entered in the minutes, Stenzinger seconded, motion carried <br />unanimously, arxi the following municipal liquor store advisory <br />vote recorded: <br />Total number of votes cast 1,615 <br />Number of blank ballots 4 <br />Number voting"yes" 1,057 <br />Number voting "no" 554 <br />Legislative committee Stenzinger moved that a letter be written to the Legislative <br />thanked for conduct- committee, thanking them on behalf of the council for the <br />ing advisory vote committee's good work in c3onducting the municipal liquor store <br />advisory vote and tabulating the returns. Seconded by Shavor <br />anc' motion carried unanimously. <br />Thanks to Election Hustrulid moved that similar letters of thanks be sent to <br />Boards members of the Election and Counting Boards in each precinct, <br />who served at the general election, November 2. Seconded by <br />Stewart and motion carried unanimously. <br />Weiden Bros. Memo was read from E.D. Larson, gas inspector ,• as to requiring <br />Fred Vogt & Co. Weiden Bros. Heating R~ Sheet Metal, Inc., of Newport, and <br />Fred Vogt R: Co., of St Louis Park to secure master gas installers' <br />licenses in view of the fact that each had installed gas burner <br />equipment in the Village without being licensed. Stewart moved <br />that the matter be referred to our attorney for handling. <br />Seconded by Hustrulid and carried unanimously: <br />Hartfiel Rezoning Attorney Graham reported that he had checked the Hartfiel <br />petition petition requesting that the property at the northwest <br />corner of Larpenteur and Hemline avenues be rezoned from <br />Residence district "A" to Business district, and that the <br />petition has the required. number of signatures. Hustrulid <br />moved that hearing on said. petition be set for November 24, <br /> <br />
