<br />Meeting called to order at 7:30 P.M., the following council members being present:
<br />Y4illiam R. Utecht, Mayor; George J, Shavor, Trustee; Harold C. Nilsen, Trustee;
<br />Willis Warkentien, Trustee; Clyde J. Stewart, Clerk. Absent: William E. Olsen,
<br />Treasurer, andFrank N.Graham, Attorney.
<br />Reading of minutes of the previous meeting was dispensed with.

<br />Assessors' Letter was read from Joseph M, Robertson, Commissioner of Taxation,
<br />Meeting dated March 12, 1957, relative to t1Ze annual County seat instruction-
<br />. al meeting for local County Board members, at the Court House,
<br />April 2, 1957. Utecht moved that the letter be referred to Village
<br />Assessor George Townsend. Seconded by Stewart and so ordered.
<br />Property Copy of the Mayor's letter, dated March 18, 1957, to r~r. Stepnitz
<br />Stepnitz relative to the impervious wall to be built on the back of the
<br />represents property along Arona south of the Associated Investors' business
<br />block, was read, The Mayor reported that in view of nothing
<br />being done, he had asked our attorney to proceed with the alleged
<br />zoning ordinance violation. Said he had also asked the police
<br />to check on parking of cars in the area,
<br />Fire School, Letter from the League of Minnesota Municipalities regarding
<br />Apr, 22-26 the Minnesota State Fire School to be held this year the week of
<br />April 22-26, at the St Paul Campus and State Fairgrounds, wa.s
<br />presented. On moQtion by Utecht, seconded by Warkentien, the
<br />Clerk eras direct9°1to refer the letter to our Fire Chief for
<br />recommendation as to members of the Department who are scheduled
<br />to attend the School this year.

<br />In connection with transfer of ownership of 19112 GMC tank
<br />truck to the Village,. the Clerk asked for authority to pay the
<br />transfer filing fee of $1,00 and the 195?-59 tax 6f 41,00, as
<br />per letter of March 13, 157 from the Department of State,
<br />Motor Vehicle Division. Utecht moved that the p~yment-of $2,00
<br />be authorized. Seconded by Nilsen and motion carried unanimously.
<br />Letter was read from Mr. R.J. Luey, President, Falcon Heights
<br />Commercial Club, regarding the recent changing of directional
<br />signs on Snelling Avenue service lanes at Larpenteur Avenue, and
<br />the concern of our merchants in the area as to the severity of
<br />fines levidd against their customers in this connection. On
<br />motion of Warkentien, seconded by Stewart, the letter was
<br />referred to Police Commissioner Donald Arndt with request that
<br />he attend the Commercial Club's next meeting and explain the
<br />matter.
<br />Zoning Ordinance Copy of letter dated March 18, 1957, from Village Attorney B.F.
<br />violation -Hansen Friel was read, relative to alleged violation of our zoning
<br />health inspection .ordinance by the owners of property represented by Mr. Stepnitz,
<br />request also regarding a second matter, relating to Mr. Harvey Han sen's
<br />request that the Village make a health inspectionof the Hansen
<br />property. 7~ttorney Friel expressed the opinion that the latter
<br />is a private matter between Mr. Hansen and the Associated
<br />_ Investors, Inc.
