<br />Meeting called to order at ?:10 P.M., the following council members being present:
<br />William R. Utecht, Mayor; George J, Shavor, Trustee; Harold C. Nilsen, Trustee;
<br />Willis Warkentien, Trustee; Clyde J, Stewart, Clerk. Also present: William E.
<br />Olsen, Treasurer, and Frank N. Graham, Attorney.

<br />Hearing, The hearing reconvened at 7:10 P.M. Engineer V.L. L~ungren
<br />Alley reported to the council and to Mr. Rixgus'and Dr. Risbrudt who
<br />Improvement were present, that it would require an inuestmea:t of about
<br /> $2,000.00 to bring the alley in Block 1, Northome Addition,
<br /> to a standard comparable with the seven improved alleys. Mr.
<br /> L~ungren suggested that the alley might be fixed up for two
<br /> or three years with soma regt~.ding and patching of chuck holes,
<br /> and when storm sewer is put ia, it would be feasible to go in
<br /> and bring the alley up to standard. The matter was then dis-
<br /> cussed with Mr. Steffes and Mr. Barney, of our Sanitary Sewer
<br /> Engineers' staff, who arrived at this stage of the hearing.
<br /> Mr. Steffes indicated he would arrange. with Mr. Barney tc3 have
<br /> the ditch on Hamline deepened and to do some work in the alley,
<br /> including the hauling in of waste material which is being removed
<br /> from the streets in connection with sewer digging operations.
<br />Hearing It was agreed to see how this would work out, ~ d on motion by
<br />recessed Stewart, seconded by Utecht, the hearing was ordered recessed
<br />• to July 25 until 7:f?0 P.M., Thursday, July 25, 1957.
<br />Minutes The council proceeded with the regular meeting at 8:00 P.M.
<br /> No one wishing to hear the minutes read, it was agreed to
<br /> dispense with reading of the minutes of June 13, 1957 and
<br /> to approve same as submitted,
<br />Req'n. #121, covering shut-off keys for resuscitator cylinders, axe handles,
<br />Fire Dept, insect sprayer, weed killer liquid, etc., was approved on
<br /> motion by Nilsen, seconded by Stewart.
<br />Boxing Exhibition, Letter of June 25, 1957 was .read from Mgr. John J. Raleigh,
<br />State Fair .President, St Paul Boxing Club, Inc., stating his intention
<br /> to promote a boxing exhibition at the Fair Grounds, Friday
<br /> night, August 23, 1957, with license from the State Athletic
<br /> Commission sub,~ect to consent of the Village Council. .The
<br /> Village Attorney's letter of June 4, 1957 on the matter was
<br /> also read, in which it was stated that '~An opinion of the Attorney
<br /> General dated February 20, 1950, held that the State Athletic
<br /> Commission could issue one license for the Village of Falcon Heights
<br /> but only after the Falcon Heights Village Council has consented
<br /> to the issuing of the license; Utecht moved that Mr. Raleigh
<br /> be permitted to hold a boxing or sparring exhibition at the State
<br /> Fair Grounds on Friday night, August 23, 1957. Seconded by
<br /> Stewart and motion carried by a ~t/5 vote of the council, Trustee
<br /> Shavor voting no. •

<br />As requested, one additional set of plans and specifications
<br />for Sanitary Sewer System Improvement No. 1, Part 1, and one
<br />set of plans and specifications for Sanitary Sewer System Improve-
<br />ment No. 1 Part II (Street Resurfacing) were received from Mr.
<br />Steffes and delivered to Building Inspector Christensen at the
<br />meeting.
