J r ROUGH DRAFT: ,~ CITY PLANNING COMMISSION BY'~LAWS ARTICLE I - DUTIES AND OBJECTIVES 1.1 The Commission is designed to serve in an dvisory capacity to the City Council and Adnnistration~anc~~carry out the duties as perscribed by Ordinance #64 1.2 The objectives of the commission are to guide future develop- ment of land, services, and facilities so as to ensure safe, pleasant and economical environment-for residential, commercial, industrial and public activities and so as to promote the public health, safety, morals and general welfare. In order to bring about the achievement of these objectives the commission shall: a. establish community objectives and policy, b. make recommendations to the City Council regarding petitions and applications for rezoning, special use permits, etc. c. review all matters relating or affecting the physical developmentiof the City, d, draft and recommend to the City Council for adoption regulations and ordinances authorizing and empowering the enforcement of its findings relating to the physical development of the City, and e. serve as a forum for citizen involvement. ARTICLE IT - MEMBERSHIP 2.1 Number. Said commission shall consist of not more than nine nor less than seven citizen members who are eligible voters residing within the City limits of Falcon. Heights appointed by the Mayor and approved by the City Council. 2.2 Terms. Members shall be appointed for terms of two years. Any vacancy in the membership shall be filled by appointment by the Mayor subject to confirmation by the City Council and such vacancy appointments shall be for the unexpired term of the vacating member. No member may serve more than five consecutive terms. 2.3 Removal.Members shall be subject to removal for cause only after Council approval. 2.4 Absenteeism. Any member who fails to attend three consecutive regular meetings of the commission without satisfactory explaina- tion shall be subject to removal as a member of said commission. 2.5 Misc. Members shall serve without salary but will be reimbursed for any out of pocket expense to attend .meetings or make out of town trips, as authorized by the Council.
