J r <br />ROUGH DRAFT: <br />,~ CITY PLANNING COMMISSION BY'~LAWS <br />ARTICLE I - DUTIES AND OBJECTIVES <br />1.1 The Commission is designed to serve in an dvisory capacity <br />to the City Council and Adnnistration~anc~~carry out the <br />duties as perscribed by Ordinance #64 <br />1.2 The objectives of the commission are to guide future develop- <br />ment of land, services, and facilities so as to ensure safe, <br />pleasant and economical environment-for residential, commercial, <br />industrial and public activities and so as to promote the public <br />health, safety, morals and general welfare. In order to bring <br />about the achievement of these objectives the commission shall: <br />a. establish community objectives and policy, <br />b. make recommendations to the City Council regarding <br />petitions and applications for rezoning, special use <br />permits, etc. <br />c. review all matters relating or affecting the physical <br />developmentiof the City, <br />d, draft and recommend to the City Council for adoption <br />regulations and ordinances authorizing and empowering <br />the enforcement of its findings relating to the physical <br />development of the City, and <br />e. serve as a forum for citizen involvement. <br /> <br />ARTICLE IT - MEMBERSHIP <br />2.1 Number. Said commission shall consist of not more than nine <br />nor less than seven citizen members who are eligible voters <br />residing within the City limits of Falcon. Heights appointed <br />by the Mayor and approved by the City Council. <br />2.2 Terms. Members shall be appointed for terms of two years. Any <br />vacancy in the membership shall be filled by appointment by the <br />Mayor subject to confirmation by the City Council and such <br />vacancy appointments shall be for the unexpired term of the <br />vacating member. No member may serve more than five consecutive <br />terms. <br />2.3 Removal.Members shall be subject to removal for cause only after <br />Council approval. <br />2.4 Absenteeism. Any member who fails to attend three consecutive <br />regular meetings of the commission without satisfactory explaina- <br />tion shall be subject to removal as a member of said commission. <br />2.5 Misc. Members shall serve without salary but will be reimbursed <br />for any out of pocket expense to attend .meetings or make out of <br />town trips, as authorized by the Council. <br /> <br />
