• <br />• <br />• <br />MINUTES <br />PLANNING C0~!~IISSION Id~ETING <br />JANUARY 10, 1983 <br />The Planning Commission was called to order at ?:35 P.M. by Chairman <br />Al Stefanson. <br />Stefanson, Mead, Brown, Bourquin, Nilsen, Wallin and Chenoweth. Also <br />present was Council Liaison Ciernia. <br />Waldo and Olson. <br />Chairman Stefanson welcomed Council Liaison Ciernia. He also welcomed <br />Helen Brown, who had been appointed for a one year term. She replaced <br />Bob Blomberg. A letter of appreciation was sent to Bob for his many <br />years of dedicated service on the Planning Commission. <br />Chairman Stefanson then advised Planning Commission members of the new <br />staggered appointments. They are as follows: <br />One Year Term <br />Two Year Term <br />Three Year Term <br />rielen Brown <br />Mary Waldo <br />Jim Bourquin <br />Don Mead <br />Harold Nilsen <br />Phil Chenoweth <br />Erma Olson <br />Jerry Wallin <br />Al Stefanson <br />Don Mead moved, seconded by Jerry Wa1lin,to appoint Al Stefanson as <br />Chairman of the Planning Commission. Motion carried unanimously. Jim <br />Bourquin moved, seconded by Harold Nilsen, to appoint Erma Olson as <br />Vice-Chairman of the Planning Commission. Motion approved unanimously. <br />Harold Nilsen moved, seconded by Phil Chenoweth, to appoint Jerry Wallin <br />as Secretary to the Planning Commission. Motion approved unanimously. <br />The December 6, 1982 Minutes were discussed. Jim Bourquin pointed out DECEMBER <br />that in paragraph six, line eight, "12,000" should read "1,200". Harold 6, 1982 <br />Nilsen stated paragraph six, line nine, should read "two hour" parking MINUTES <br />instead of "no" parking. Jerry Wallin moved, seconded by Phil Chenoweth, APPROVED <br />to approve the minutes as amended. Motion carried unanimously. <br />The proposed housing project for University of Minnesota retirees was <br />discussed. Al Stefanson informed the Planning Commission that the <br />University was meeting this same evening to discuss the pros and cons <br />of the project. He presumed that the University will probably attend <br />the February Planning Commission meeting. Jim Bourquin stated that he <br />was in favor of the University participating in making a move to assure <br />a better life for their retirees but had heard complaints that it will <br />HOUSING <br />PROJECT FOR, <br />UOFM <br />RETIREES <br />
