Hugo City Council Meeting Minutes for June 16, 2014 <br />Page 2 of 8 <br />Presentation of GFOA Award for Excellence in Financial Reporting — and Finance <br />Director Ron Otkin and Accounting Clerk Anna Wobse <br />Finance Director Ron Otkin received notification from the Government Finance Officers <br />Association of the United States and Canada that the Hugo Finance Department has received the <br />201 Certificate of Achievement for excellence in financial reporting. As Council is aware, this <br />certificate is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting, <br />and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management. <br />Ron stated that he set it as a goal when he started and it took him five years to attain it. He has <br />received the award every year since. <br />The Council recognized Finance Director Ron Otkin and Accounting Clerk Anna Wobse for <br />their excellence in financial reporting. Mayor Tom Weidt and the Council presented Ron and <br />Anna with this certificate. <br />Donation from St. Louis Park American Legion to YRN <br />City Council Member Haas added this to the agenda. St. Louis Park Post Commander Doug <br />Lodemeier presented a check for $5,000 to the Washington County Yellow Ribbon Network for <br />their annual Welcome Home Pheasant Hunt. Doug talked about being deployed in 2009-2010 <br />and missing the hunting season in Minnesota. When he returned, he was invited to the Welcome <br />Home Pheasant Hunt and was very appreciative of the YRN for the hunt and all the work they <br />do. Working with the St. Louis Park American Legion, he had an opportunity to give back. <br />They have since initiated the southwest metro Yellow Ribbon Network. Jeff Hughes, owner of <br />Wildwings Game Farm, stated that it was a monumental feat to put the event together, and he <br />was overwhelmed by the help of the volunteers. <br />Approval of the Consent Agenda <br />Haas made motion, Bronk seconded, to approve the following Consent Agenda item: <br />1. Approval of Claims <br />2. Approve the Sale of Surplus Fire Department Equipment <br />3. Approve Recreational Program Policy <br />4. Special Event Permit for Parenting with a Purpose Motorcycle Ride on June 28, 2014 <br />All Ayes. Motion carried. <br />Approval of Claims <br />Adoption of the Consent Agenda approved the Claims Roster as presented. <br />Approve the Sale of Surplus Fire Department Equipment <br />The stand-alone generator at the Fire Department is not being used and, instead of maintaining it, <br />the Department is requesting approval to sell it. Prior to listing the generator for sale, Council <br />must declare the generator as surplus and specify that all proceeds from the sale of the generator <br />will go to the City. Adoption of the Consent Agenda approved declaration of the generator as <br />
