Hugo City Council Meeting Minutes for September 3, 2013 <br />Page 3 of 6 <br />Approve Final Pay Request from Dunaway Construction for 145th Street Sidewalk <br />Reconstruction <br />Staff has received the final pay request from Dunaway Construction for the reconstruction of the <br />sidewalk along 145th Street North. Senior Engineering Technician Steve Duff has reviewed the <br />pay request and finds it satisfactory for work on the project. Adoption of the Consent Agenda <br />approved the final pay request from Dunaway Construction in the amount of $20,997.65 for <br />work completed on the 145th Street Sidewalk Reconstruction. <br />Approve Special Event Permit for Tri -Fitness Run Event on Sunday, September 15, 2013 <br />Tri -Fitness has applied for a Special Event Permit for a bike race on Sunday, September 15, <br />2013. This race is a part of the One Last Tri triathlon that will begin and end in the City of <br />White Bear Lake, and the running and swimming portion of the event will also take place in <br />White Bear Lake. A Special Event Permit is necessary because there will be between 200-300 <br />participants using streets within the City for the biking portion of the triathlon. Hugo and <br />Washington County staff has worked with the applicant on the details of the event. Adoption of <br />the Consent Agenda approved the Special Event Permit for Tri -Fitness for the run event on <br />September 15, 2013 <br />Approve Donation from Bayport American Legion to the Hugo Fire Department <br />The City of Hugo has received a check from the Bayport American Legion as a donation to the <br />Hugo Fire Department. The Bayport American Legion conducts gambling at Sal's Angus Grill <br />in the form of pull tabs, bingo, and meat raffles. Adoption of the Consent Agenda approved the <br />donation of $1,500 to the Hugo Fire Department from the Bayport American Legion. <br />Council Member Haas said he is pleased to see these organizations getting involved and <br />appreciates their cooperation without having to enact an ordinance. He would like to see these <br />organizations recognized. <br />Approve Hiring of Steve Unzen as Seasonal Employee <br />Staff is requesting authorization to hire Steve Unzen as a seasonal employee for the public works <br />department. Each fall, with the start of the school year, several seasonal employees leave <br />employment with the City to attend college. This year is no exception. Staff recently spoke to <br />Mr. Unzen, who is interested in assisting the City as a seasonal parks employee. The addition of <br />Steve, as a seasonal employee, would assist the Public Works Department in continuing the <br />maintenance of park property and other City owned property into the fall until such time that <br />park grounds maintenance has stopped for the season. Pay for this position would be $12.00 per <br />hour. Adoption of the Consent Agenda approved the hiring of Steve Unzen as a seasonal <br />employee. <br />
