MINUTES FOR THE HUGO CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />TUESDAY, JANUARY 17, 2012 <br />GOAL SETTING SESSION <br />Mayor Fran Miron called the meeting to order at 8:20 p.m. <br />PRESENT: Klein, Petryk, Weidt, Miron <br />ABSENT: Haas <br />ALSO PRESENT: City Administrator Bryan Bear, Public Works Director Scott Anderson, <br />Planner Rachel Juba, Parks Planner Shayla Syverson, and City Clerk Michele Lindau <br />City Administrator Bryan Bear provided Council with a brief overview of the status of the 2011 <br />City Focus Goals and a preview of what to expect for 2012. Council also discussed the study <br />being done by legislature on whether to eliminate or modify the fiscal disparity program. It was <br />the consensus of the Council to not advocate one way or the other at this time. This will likely <br />be a topic of discussion at the I-35 W/E Coalition meeting on Thursday, January 19, 2012. <br />2012 Planning Commission Goals <br />Planner Rachel Juba provided Council an overview of the goals of the Hugo Planning <br />Commission as discussed at the Planning Commission meeting on January 12, 2012. They are: <br />• Review of downtown plan <br />• Study and plan the northern gateway (170th Street and TH61) <br />• Zoning ordinance updates <br />• Bus tour <br />• Connection of trail systems to commercial areas <br />• Stormwater Plan/Stormwater CIP <br />• Eastern Hugo sewer study <br />• Planning Commission training <br />2012 Parks Commission Goals <br />Parks Planner Shayla Syverson reviewed the 2012 goals of the Parks and Recreation <br />Commission. The Goals fell into the following categories: <br />• Park, Trail and Open Space Development <br />• Recreation Programs <br />• Athletic Facilities <br />• Marketing <br />Economic Development Authority (EDA) Goals <br />Planner Rachel Juba reviewed the 2012 goals of the EDA.
