Hugo City Council Meeting Minutes for June 18, 2012
Page 7 of 8
Windisch. The Stakeholder Group will have two meetings this summer with final presentations
and approvals anticipated this fall. The Stakeholder Group will meet on Wednesday, July 11
from 5:30-6:30 pm to recap the neighborhood meetings, which were held in the fall, and define
site amenities with the consultant. The second meeting of the Stakeholder Group will be on
Wednesday, August 8 from 5:30-7:30 pm and will include review of three master plan options
prepared by the consultant. The Parks Commission requested a Council Member to serve on the
Lions Park Master Planning Stakeholder Group.
Haas made motion, Petryk seconded, to appoint Council Member Weidt as the Council
representative on the Lions Park Master Planning Stakeholders Group.
Miron made motion, Haas seconded, to amend the motion to include the appointment of Council
Member Petryk as an alternate.
Vote on the amendment:
All Ayes. Motion carried.
Vote on the motion as amended:
All Ayes. In addition, there are unpaid taxes and assessments. Upon review of the title
documents, it appears that there is an additional judgment as well as a tax lien that has also been
filed against the property. The Economic Development Authority reviewed the information at
their meeting on June 11, 2012 and recommended that the City purchase the property. A
purchase price of $3,000 had been verbally negotiated, with the City taking responsibility for all
taxes, liens, assessments, and judgments.
City Administrator Bryan Bear explained that the redemption period, during which time
Catherine Anderson could buy the property back, ends on June 23, 2012. After the EDA
meeting on June 11, 2012 Catherine notified the City that she intends to do just that -purchase the
property back, and has offered to sell it to the City for $350,000.
Haas made motion, Klein seconded, to not pursue purchasing the Carpenter property at this time.
All Ayes. Motion carried.
Yellow Ribbon Network Update
Council Members Chuck Haas and Phil Klein reported to Council on recent activities of the City
of Hugo's Yellow Ribbon Network. The YRN is partnering with Lions Club on a grant through
Home Depot. A family who was recently helped by the YRN on a bathroom project is holding a
