Hugo City Council Meeting Minutes for March 7, 2011 <br />Page 7 of 7 <br />Update on the Hugo American Legion <br />The City of Hugo has been working with State Senator Ray Vandeveer and State Representative <br />Bob Dettmer on the tax classification of the Hugo American Legion as it applies to monies spent <br />from charitable gambling proceeds. Council Member Haas was happy to report that the County <br />Assessor has notified the American Legion that the interpretation of the State Statutes considers <br />room rental fees as a local contribution, therefore reducing the amount of taxes the Legion will <br />have to pay. <br />Announcement of Sandy Rummel as the new Met Council Representative for Hugo <br />Governor Mark Dayton filed "Notice of Intent to Appoint" forms with the Secretary of State for <br />the sixteen Metropolitan Council Districts, including Sandra Rummel as the representative of the <br />Hugo Area. Former Senator Rummel has a strong interest in water quality and usage policies <br />and has worked on the Senate Environment Committee and Clean Water Legacy Subcommittee. <br />After the five-day review period, Sandy Rummel was appointed to the Metropolitan Council on <br />Monday, March 7, 2011. <br />Haas made motion, Petryk seconded, to extend to Sandy Rummel an invite to a Council meeting <br />and the I-35 W/E Coalition meetings. <br />All Ayes. Motion carried. <br />Cancellation of Meeting <br />Staff informed Council there were no pertinent agenda items for the second meeting in March, <br />and recommended cancelling the meeting. <br />Haas made motion, Weidt seconded, to cancel the second Council meeting in March scheduled <br />for March 21, 2011. <br />All Ayes. Motion carried. <br />Adjournment <br />Haas made motion, Klein seconded, to adjourn at 9:10 p.m. <br />All Ayes.
