Hugo City Council Meeting Minutes January 3, 2011
Page 8 of 9
I.1 League of Minnesota Cities Insurance Trust Land Use Training for City Officials
The City of Hugo can be a part of the land use incentive program by successfully completing
online training regarding land use decision making. Cities that meet the requirements for the
incentive will earn a savings of as much as $3,750 per land use claim. Cities that do not meet the
requirement will pay a higher rate. The online training is available now through the League of
Minnesota Cities website under City Learning Point. The League stated they are working
towards a series of three online training courses over the next couple years. There is one training
course available now on the website "Land Use Basics: Grasping the Ground Rules". As part of
the Incentive Program, it is necessary for three City Council members, the Chair and another
member of the Planning Commission to volunteer to successfully complete the training for the
LMCIT's Land Use Incentive Program. The Mayor and Council agreed that all members of
Council and Commission would benefit from this training.
Miron made motion, Petryk seconded, to direct staff to schedule training for as many
Councilmembers and Planning Commissioners who wanted to be involved.
All Ayes. Motion carried.
Announcement of Vacancy on the Rice Creek Watershed District (RCWD) Citizen
Advisory Committee
Staff announced that they had been notified by the RCWD they are seeking application for the
Citizen Advisory Committee.
