City Council Meeting Minutes for June 7, 2010 <br />Page 7 of 9 <br />which includes a request to hold a business breakfast with the Mayors State of the City Address. <br />This Business Networking Breakfast would be on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 from 7:30 - 9 am at <br />Hugo City Hall with invitations to the BR&E Committee, Hugo Business Association, and the <br />Business Networking International group, which meets weekly on Wednesday mornings in the <br />Oneka Room. <br />Haas made motion, Klein seconded to schedule the Business Networking Meeting for Tuesday, <br />June 15, 2010 from 7:30 — 9:00 a.m. <br />All Ayes. Motion carried. <br />Update on Highway 61 and County Road 4 Intersection <br />City Engineer Jay Kennedy provided the Council an update on the Highway 61/County Road 4 <br />intersection, which was recently ranked as the number one priority for improvements by <br />Washington County. County staff has been working with MnDOT officials to secure funding for <br />the project, which will include the construction of turn lanes and a traffic signal. Funding was <br />secured by Washington County and MnDOT for the project for 2014. The layout of the <br />intersection was being prepared by MnDot, and the Council could expect a layout for review in <br />August, 2010. Mayor Fran Miron thanked Jay for the update and directed him to keep the <br />Council apprised of the project. <br />Approve Draft Assessment Agreement Regarding the Demolition of the End Zone Building <br />at 13891 Forest Boulevard North <br />Community Development Director Bryan Bear has continued to meet with representatives and <br />owners of the former End Zone property located at 13891 Forest Boulevard for redevelopment <br />opportunities. Recently, staff met with owner Len Minich to discuss an assessment agreement to <br />demolish the bar/restaurant building with the cost of the demolition to be incurred by the City <br />and spread against the property to be paid back over ten years with interest. This agreement was <br />verbally agreed to by Len Minich, and demolition could occur as soon as next month. <br />Community Development Director Bryan Bear explained the cost of demolition could be <br />reimbursed with redevelopment under Tax Increment Financing. <br />Haas made motion, Klein seconded, to approve the draft Assessment Agreement regarding the <br />demolition of the former End Zone building at 13891 Forest Boulevard North, pending final <br />approval by the City Attorney. <br />All Ayes. Motion carried. <br />Conduct Hearing and Consider Approval of Order Concerning a Hazardous and <br />Substandard Building Located at 14583 Forest Boulevard North <br />At its May 17, 2010 meeting, the Hugo City Council scheduled hearing for Monday June 7, 2010 <br />to consider the demolition of the old Antique Store located at 14583 Forest Boulevard North. <br />City staff has sent notification to building owner Catherine Anderson and invited her to attend <br />the Council meeting concerning the building being declared hazardous as defined under <br />Minnesota State Statute 463.16. <br />
