Minutes for the Hugo City Council Meeting June 21, 2010 <br />Page 6 of 7 <br />Haas made motion, Wiedt seconded, to approve RESOLUTION NO 2010-24 ACCEPTING <br />THE DONATION FROM THE HUGO LIONS CLUB. <br />Ayes: Weidt, Klein, Haas, Miron <br />Nays: None <br />Motion carried. <br />Discussion on Approval of Grant Application to the Minnesota DNR for Community <br />Conservation Assistance Grant <br />At the City Council meeting of March 15, 2010 the City of Hugo 2030 Comprehensive Plan was <br />approved. The Metropolitan Council recommended that a study be done of eastern Hugo to <br />determine what areas of the City should ultimately be served by the regional sewer system. The <br />City Engineer prepared a project scope for creating a GIS -based model that identifies the <br />quantity, quality and location of natural resources or areas that should be conserved rather than <br />developed. City staff has asked the Washington Conservation District and the Metropolitan <br />Council to partner with the City in the study. Parks Planner Shayla Syverson explained that the <br />study is eligible for funding through the Minnesota DNR Community Conservation Assistance <br />Program. The cost of the project is $22,500. City staff recommended applying for $16,875 in <br />funding from the Community Conservation Assistance Program, to be matched in the amount of <br />$5,625 by local cash or in-kind services for conducting a study of eastern Hugo. Council <br />discussed the other entities that would benefit from this project and the need to seek funding <br />from other sources like the Metropolitan Council and Minnesota DNR. <br />Haas made motion, Weidt seconded, to approve RESOLUTION NO 2010-25 SUPPORTING <br />APPLICATION FOR FUNDING FROM THE COMMUNITY CONSERVATION <br />ASSISTANCE PROGRAM. <br />Ayes: Klein, Haas, Weidt, Miron <br />Nays: None <br />Motion carried. <br />Schedule Date in August for Mid -Year Budget Review Meeting <br />Annually, the City Council schedules a mid -year budget review in order to allow the Council to <br />accept information from the Finance Department regarding the City's year-to-date finances as <br />well as to review some target objections for the next year's budget. Finance Director Ron Otkin <br />recommended Council schedule a date in early August on which to hear information from the <br />Finance Department on year-to-date finance projections as well as target objections for <br />preparation of the City's 2011 City budget. <br />Weidt made motion, Haas seconded, to schedule the Mid -Year Budget Review meeting for <br />August 11, 2010 at 8:00 a.m. at Hugo City Hall. <br />All Ayes. Motion carried. <br />
