It takes approximately three months
to have an officer in place, and Councilmember Haas said the City could consider notifying the
Sheriff's Department now that we need another patrol officer. Miron said he was concerned the
City could be jeopardizing the COP grant. The COP grant would provide the City one additional
officer for three years, which the City would be committed to hire after that. The City would not
want to be in the position of having to hire two officers.
Miron made motion, Haas seconded, to send a letter to Washington County Sheriff Hutton
informing him the City has budgeted for additional public safety, and is open to discussions on
the COPS grant and additional patrol officer staffing.
All Ayes. Motion carried.
