Minutes for the City Council Meeting October 18, 2010 <br />Page 2 of 7 <br />Presentation of Resolution and Plaque Recognizing Retirement of Deputy Fire Chief <br />Jadon 011ila <br />At its September 7, 2010 meeting, the Council reluctantly accepted the resignation of Hugo <br />Deputy Fire Chief Jadon 011ila who had submitted his letter of resignation announcing his <br />retirement from the Hugo Fire Department after more than 14 years of dedicated public service <br />to the citizens of Hugo. Jadon was present at the meeting with his wife Melanie, daughter <br />Bailey, and son Brock as well as Fire Chief Jim Compton and several fellow Hugo firefighters. <br />Miron made motion, Weidt seconded, to approve RESOLUTION 2010-49 RECOGNIZING JADON <br />OLLILA FOR HIS 14 YEARS OF PUBLIC SERVICE ON THE HUGO FIRE DEPARMENT. <br />All Ayes. Motion carried. <br />The Mayor and Council presented Jadon and his family with the resolution and a plaque and <br />thanked Jadon for his service to the community and leadership on the Hugo Fire Department. <br />Introduction of Carter Johnson as New Publisher of The Citizen <br />Publisher Carter Johnson of the White Bear Press recently purchased The Citizen newspaper <br />from Publisher Louis Melamed. On Monday, October 4, 2010 Mayor Fran Miron and City <br />Administrator Mike Ericson met with White Bear Press Publisher Gene Johnson and his son <br />Carter Johnson as well as Deb Barnes, who will continue as editor of The Citizen newspaper. <br />This was an opportunity to discuss the present and future operation of The Citizen newspaper <br />which they will still continue to publish in its biweekly format. Publisher of the White Bear <br />Press Carter Johnson introduced himself to the Hugo City Council, and the Council welcomed <br />him as the new publisher of The Citizen. <br />Approval of the Consent Agenda <br />Haas made motion, Petryk seconded, to approve the following Consent Agenda. <br />Approval of Claims <br />Approve Resolution to Get LiDAR Aerial Photography from Rice Creek Watershed District <br />Approve Resolution Supporting Forest Lake School District Operating Levy and Bond Referendum <br />Approve Revised Fire Department Organizational Chart <br />Approve Annual Performance Review for Accounting Clerk Anna Wobse <br />Approve Pay Request No. 4 from Gencon Construction for Construction of Park Shelter at <br />Hanifl Fields <br />Approve Interim Use Permit for Offsite Directional Sign for Prairie Village <br />Approve Resolution for Revisions to Assessment Policy Regarding Senior Deferment <br />Approve Application for Senior Deferral for Road Assessment <br />Approve Pay Request No. 6 from E.H. Renner & Sons, Inc for Construction of Well No. 6 <br />Approve Pay Request No. 9 from Arnt Construction for TH61/147th Street Intersection Project <br />All Ayes. Motion carried. <br />
