Hugo City Council Minutes for January 5, 2009 Page 12 of 13 Appoint Council Representative to Economic Development Authority (EDA) in 2009 Due to the retirement of former Councilmember Mike Granger from the Hugo City Council in 2008, the Hugo City Council must select a member to serve as one of the two Council representatives on the EDA. Mayor Fran Miron agreed to continue serving on the EDA as president. With the resignation of Phil Klein as a citizen member and Mike Granger as the Council representative, Council needed to select another member to serve on the EDA. Miron made motion, Petryk seconded, to reappoint Mayor Fran Miron as the President of the EDA and Councilmember Phil Klein as the Council representative on the EDA. All ayes. Motion carried. HealthEast Hugo Clinic Opening on January 14, 2009 City Administrator Mike Ericson announced the HealthEast Hugo Clinic was holding an open house on January 14, 2009 from 4-6 p.m. to celebrate the opening of their new clinic on Everton Avenue. Miron made motion, Petryk seconded, to schedule January 14, 2008 at 4:00 p.m. as a meeting to allow Council attendance at the event. All ayes. Motion carried. Market Value Homestead Credit unallotment Councilmember Haas added this item to the agenda and asked City Administrator Mike Ericson to share information with the Council on the Market Value Homestead Credit. Due to the necessary cuts to balance the state budget, Governor Tim Pawlenty announced that the City of Hugo was unalloted $121,090, the second half of the 2008 Market Value Homestead Credit. Haas asked that, due to the unallotment of these funds, City prepare and plan for the 2009 projections with regard to the cut in the Market Value Homestead Credit. City Administrator Mike Ericson reported that Finance Ron was preparing a report on this issue. January 26, 2009 Washington County League of Local Governments Meeting Annually, the Hugo City Council attends the Washington County League of Local Governments Meeting which is to be held on the fourth Monday of January. In the past, Council has scheduled the meeting as a public meeting in order to allow attendance participation by the Mayor and Council members. Petryk made motion, Weidt seconded, to schedule the January 26, 2009 Washington County League of Local Governments Meeting as a public meeting in order to allow the attendance of all members of the Hugo City Council. All ayes. Motion carried.
