Hugo City Council Minutes for January 5, 2009 <br />Page 5 of 13 <br />while completing his building inspector duties. Scott is well known and well respected by the <br />local builders and contractors due to his excellent communication skills and thoroughness. Scott <br />has proved to be a valuable member of the Building Department team stepping in to provide <br />backup receptionist duties as needed. Adoption of the Consent Agenda approved the annual <br />performance review for Building Inspector Scott Baller. <br />Approve Annual Performance Review for Associate Planner Rachel Simone <br />Rachel Simone was hired as the City's new Associate Planner on January 2, 2007. Over the past <br />two years Rachel has worked hard at developing her planning skills and customer service duties <br />at the front counter with residents and visitors. Rachel's communication skills are excellent and <br />she has worked hard to develop her writing skills while learning the day-to-day duties of the City <br />Planner. Rachel provides all support staff to the Economic Development Authority in <br />preparation of the agenda. She also serves as staff appointment to various special subcommittees <br />that have completed work over the past year. Adoption of the Consent Agenda approved the <br />annual performance review for Associate Planner Rachel Simone. <br />Approve Annual Performance Review for PW Worker Ryan McCullough <br />Ryan McCullough was hired on January 2, 2007 as the City of Hugo's new Apprentice Public <br />Works Maintenance Worker. Ryan has worked hard over the past two years demonstrating an <br />excellent work ethic while learning the duties of the Public Works Maintenance Worker. <br />Ryan's, dedication, loyalty, and commitment to the Public Works Department is respected by the <br />Public Works Department. Ryan continues to learn the wide variety of the duties completed by <br />the Public Works Department including snowplowing, landscape maintenance, sewer work, and <br />water works. Adoption of the Consent Agenda approved the annual performance review for <br />Apprentice Public Works Worker Ryan McCullough. <br />Approve Revisions to the City of Hugo Emergency Management Plan <br />After the May 25, 2008 tornado disaster in the City of Hugo, the City of Hugo participated in a <br />number of workshops which were held to better understand and improve the City's emergency <br />management response. Included in workshops were suggestions that the City review and make <br />revisions to the City's Emergency Management Plan. Prior to his departure in August, Long <br />Term Disaster Coordinator Nate Ehalt had made some suggestions that he had submitted to Deb <br />Paige, the Washington County Emergency Director. Since that time, the County has agreed with <br />the revisions as they will make the plan better and more effective. Adoption of the Consent <br />Agenda approved the revisions to the City's Emergency Management Plan. <br />Approve Revised Job Descriptions for the Hugo Fire Department <br />After the May 25, 2008 tornado disaster, Fire Chief Jim Compton and officers of the department <br />determined that revisions needed to be made to the job descriptions for the Hugo Fire <br />Department. Fire Chief Jim Compton, Deputy Chief Jadon 011ila, Assistant Fire Chief/Fire <br />Marshall Marty Schwartz, and Safety and Training Officer Kevin Colvard, held a retreat recently <br />to both review and revise the job descriptions for the entire department including firefighters and <br />officers. Revisions to the job descriptions have been reviewed by City staff and the City Attorney <br />and they are satisfactory descriptions and are consistent with communities with departments of <br />Hugo's size. Adoption of the Consent Agenda approved the job descriptions for the firefighters <br />
