MINUTES FOR THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF MARCH 3, 2008 <br />Mayor Fran Miron called the meeting to order at 7:06 p.m. He made special note that long-time <br />resident Mabel Hauble turned 100 years old on March 4. Mabel resides at Comfort of Homes. <br />PRESENT: Granger, Haas, Petryk, Puleo, Miron <br />ABSENT: None <br />ALSO PRESENT: City Administrator Mike Ericson, Community Development Director Bryan <br />Bear, City Engineer Jay Kennedy, Public Works Director Chris Petree, Senior Engineering <br />Technician Scott Anderson and City Clerk Michele Lindau <br />APPROVE MINUTES FOR THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF FEBRUARY 19, 2008 <br />Haas made motion, Petryk seconded, to approve the minutes for the meeting of February 19, <br />2008 as presented. <br />All aye. Motion carried. <br />APPROVAL OF AGENDA <br />Miron made motion, Haas seconded, to approve the agenda for March 3, 2008 as presented. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />NORTHEAST YMCA COMMUNITY CENTER CONCEPT - TOM HOLLAND, <br />EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR ST. PAUL YMCA <br />At its January 28, 2008 goal setting session, the Hugo City Council identified the continued <br />involvement in the Northeast YMCA study group as one of its parks project goals as part of the <br />City's 2008 Focus Goals. Previously on January 24, 2008, City Administrator Mike Ericson, <br />Council Member Becky Petryk, and Administrative Intern Nate Ehalt attended a public <br />presentation of the Northeast YMCA Community Center concept at a public meeting held at <br />White Bear Lake North Campus. This presentation was made to representatives from both the <br />White Bear Lake and Mahtomedi School Districts, as well as White Bear Township, and the <br />Cities of Hugo, Mahtomedi, and White Bear Lake. The intention of the YMCA Board of <br />Directors is to further explore the concept of a shared community center with individual public <br />presentations made to the respective board in order to take public policy comment. Executive <br />Director Tom Holland from the YMCA presented the Northeast Community Partners Proposed <br />Guiding Principles Business Plan Development and the Summary of the Business Plan Key <br />Decision Points, which the Mayor commented was an aggressive timeline. Any resident <br />interested should contact Tom at the Northeast Family YMCA at 651-773-2642. <br />METRO TRANSIT TAXING DISTRICT — ARLENE MCCARTHY, DIRECTOR <br />METRO TRANSPORTATION SERVICES <br />Included in its 2008 City Focus Goals, the Hugo City Council identified the research of a future <br />metro transit area as one of its important transportation planning goals. City staff had contacted <br />the Metropolitan Council Transit and scheduled Director of Transportation Services Arlene <br />McCarthy. P.E., to make a presentation to the Council regarding the Metro Transit Taxing <br />
