• <br />CITY OF HUGO <br />WASHINGTON COUNTY, MINNESOTA <br />RESOLUTION NO. 1994-20 <br />A RESOLUTION OUTLINING THE CITY 18 PROPOSAL TO THE UNITED STATES <br />POSTAL SERVICE FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW POST OFFICE IN THE <br />CITY OF HUGO. <br />WHEREAS, the City of Hugo is the owner of two parcels of land <br />located in the City of Hugo, Washington County, Minnesota. Either <br />of the parcels would be suitable for the construction of a new post <br />office; and, <br />WHEREAS, the northern parcel is legally described as Lots 1 <br />through 6 (inclusive), Block 1, Hugo Addition. The land is <br />located in Section 20, Township 31 North, Range 21 West, Washington <br />County, Minnesota; and, <br />WHEREAS, the southern parcel is legally described as Lots 7 <br />through 12 (inclusive), Block 3, Hugo Addition. The land is <br />located in Section 20, Township 31 North, Range 21 West, Washington <br />County, Minnesota; and, <br />WHEREAS, the both parcels are located in a Single Family Urban <br />(SFU) zoning district. Both parcels are also located in the direct <br />vicinity of a Commercial -Business (CB) zoning district. That a <br />post office could be constructed and operated in a CB zoning <br />district; and, <br />WHEREAS, the City of Hugo would entertain and approve, if <br />appropriate, a rezoning of the above described property to a CB <br />designation if the proposal is accepted; and, <br />WHEREAS, either of the parcels in question is of adequate size <br />for use as a post office. Specifically, they are approximately 1.2 <br />acres in size. Additionally, exclusive of setbacks, easements, and <br />other similar limitations, the parcels are of ideal size for use <br />as a post office; and, <br />WHEREAS, the northern parcel has a convenient access to U.S. <br />Highway 61 and the southern access has a convenient access to <br />County Road 8. Consequently, either site would allow for an <br />efficient flow of traffic; and, <br />WHEREAS, Minnesota Statute section 412.211 et seq. authorizes <br />the City to control, hold, manage, convey, and/or lease real <br />property. The City also has the right to construct such structures <br />as are necessary for city purposes; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council intends to hereby set forth the <br />general terms of a formal proposal for the construction and lease <br />of a new post office that it intends to forward to the United <br />States Postal Service; and, <br />
