MINUTES FOR THE HUGO CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF JANUARY 2, 2007 <br />Mayor Fran Miron called the meeting to order at 7:05 pm. <br />PRESENT: Haas, Petryk, Puleo, Miron <br />City Administrator Mike Ericson, CD Director Bryan Bear, Assistant City Attorney Mark Vierling, <br />Water Resource Engineer Pete Willenbring, PW Director Chris Petree, Fire Chief Jim Compton, and <br />City Clerk Mary Ann Creager <br />ABSENT: Mike Granger <br />APPROVAL OF CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES OF DECEMBER 18, 2006 <br />Haas made motion, Puleo seconded, to approve the minutes for the December 18, 2006 meeting as <br />presented. <br />All aye. Motion Cared. <br />APPROVAL OF AGENDA <br />Add L. I — Discussion of Snowmobiles on Elmcrest Avenue <br />Add L.2 — Discussion of Plants at City Hall <br />Miron made motion, Haas seconded, to approve the agenda for January 2, 2007 as amended. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />OATHS OF OFFICE (MAYOR FRAN MIRON, COUNCIL MEMBERS BECKY PETYRK AND <br />CHUCK HAAS) <br />Newly elected City officials, Mayor Fran Miron, and Council members Becky Petryk and Chuck Haas, <br />took their oaths of office. <br />RECOGNITION OF JIM LEROUX FOR SERVICE ON THE RICE CREEK WATERSHED <br />DISTRICT <br />Jim Leroux retired from service on the Hugo City Council in 2000, after serving the City with honor and <br />distinction as a Council member. Upon Jim's retirement, he was appointed by the Washington County <br />Board to serve as a manager on the RCWD Board beginning in 2001. Over the past six years, Jim has <br />worked hard as a manager representing the City of Hugo and all of its interests and concerns. Jim has <br />worked hard to solve problems and provide solutions for citizens who have wetland, storm water, and <br />flooding problems. Jim's six years of service culminated with the completion of work in the <br />development of a Memorandum of Agreement for the long-term maintenance of JD2. He worked hard <br />to establish a level of trust and respect between the RCWD, MnDNR, and the City of Hugo. Mayor Fran <br />Miron and the Council presented Jim with a Certificate of Appreciation on behalf of the citizens of Hugo <br />and thanked him for his dedication and 30 years of public service. <br />FEMA GRANT FOR 800 MHZ COMMUNICATIONS EQUIPMENT <br />In August 2006, Council authorized the HFD to submit a joint application on behalf of the fire <br />
