Joint City CounciVPhnning Commission/Parks Commission Mewing 1-25-07 <br />City Engineer Jay Kennedy explained the need for revisions to the Comprehensive Plan regarding <br />infrastructure and transportation and talked about Met Council's push for multi -model <br />transportation systems. The City would need to consider traffic projections based on land use. <br />Also to be considered was future changes to the TH61 corridor, CSAH 8 and 4 corridors, and the <br />Rush Line corridor. He acknowledged the importance of collaborating with Washington County <br />and the adjacent City and Counties because those changes would affect how the City is planned. <br />Jay talked about sewer capacities and the importance of managing growth and infrastructure in a <br />cost effective way. <br />Community Development Director Bryan Bear outlined the suggested process saying it should <br />start with the Land Use Plan followed by work on transportation and facilities, making revisions to <br />the Land Use Plan as needed. Bryan suggested working on the Parks Plan parallel to the Land Use <br />Plan. He concluded by saying the Comprehensive Plan needed to be completed by Spring 2008 to <br />allow adjacent communities the necessary six month review period. <br />City Administrator Mike Ericson explained the importance of soliciting public comment and <br />explained several ways City staff would notify and update the residents of public meetings and <br />workshop and keep them informed of the progress on the Comprehensive Plan. <br />Mayor Fran Myron expressed confidence in the Commissions and stressed the importance of <br />strong public participation. He encouraged all in attendance to talk with their neighbors and <br />engage them in contributing to the public process. <br />A public workshop was tentatively scheduled for Monday, February 26, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. The <br />date would be formally set by the City Council. <br />Adjournment <br />Klein made motion, Thistle seconded, to adjourn the meeting of the EDA at 9:15 p.m. <br />All Ayes.
