City Council meeting of July 2, 2007 <br />Page 2 <br />PRESENTATION OF FOUR NEW FIREFIGHTERS ON HUGO FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />At its meeting of June 18, 2007, Council appointed Denise Borglund, Michael McCorkel, Anthony <br />Angell, and Michael Childs as probationary firefighters on the Hugo Fire Department. Fire Chief Jim <br />Compton advised Council that Denise Borglund will not be able to serve the City and has resigned. <br />Chief Compton presented Michael McCorkel, Anthony Angell, and Michael Childs as new members of <br />the HFD. Mayor Fran Miron publicly recognized the new firefighters and thanked them for their service <br />to the City of Hugo. <br />CONSENT AGENDA <br />Granger made motion, Haas seconded, to approve the following Consent Agenda: <br />Approval of Claims <br />Approve Pay Request #5 from Keys Well Drilling Company for Work Completed on Well No. 5 <br />Approve Hiring of Matt Morelli as Video Technician <br />Approve Annual Performance Review for Public Works Lead Worker Tom Smith <br />Approve Variance Request for Construction Deck Stairs at 13500 Fiona Avenue (Marko) <br />Approve Application for a Charitable Gambling License at Hugo American Legion (White Bear Girls' <br />Fast Pitch) <br />Approve Pay Request #3 from C.W. Houle for Work Completed to Date on the 129d' Street <br />Public Improvement Project <br />Approve Pay Request #1 from Peterson Companies for Work Completed to Date on CSAH 8 <br />Irrigation and Landscaping Project <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />APPROVAL OF CLAIMS <br />Adoption of the Consent Agenda approved the claims roster for July 2, 2007 as presented. <br />APPROVE PAY REQUEST #5 FROM KEYS WELL DRILLING COMPANY FOR WORK <br />COMPLETED ON WELL NO.5 <br />City staff has received pay request #5 from Keys Well Drilling Company for construction of well No. 5. <br />City Engineer Jay Kennedy and PW Director Chris Petree have reviewed the request and found it to be <br />satisfactory for work completed to date on the project. Adoption of the Consent Agenda approved pay <br />request #5 in the amount of $26,381.50 for work completed to date on the construction of well No. 5. <br />APPROVE HIRING OF MATT MORELLI AS VIDEO TECHNICIAN <br />The City of Hugo currently has two video technicians who provide video programming services for City <br />Council and Planning Commission meetings. Due to summer schedules, family travel, vacations, and <br />illness, staff contacted Matt Morelli, who is interested in becoming a substitute video technician. Matt <br />has experience in video programming, since his family members are involved in video production. <br />Adoption of the Consent Agenda approved the hiring of Matt Morelli as the City's new video technician, <br />at a pay rate of $12.80/hr. <br />
