Included in the site plan was a rain water garden design, which provided for all of the storm water
runoff from the City Hall site. This three -garden design was funded in part by the RCWD and Met
Council, providing an innovative pilot program for the City to show case. Over the past four years, the
City Hall site has been visited by more than 200 elected, appointed, and governmental officials seeking a
firsthand site visit of a new city hall project, which incorporates environmental best management prac-
tices. A condition of the grant from Met Council was the installation of signage, which would allow
visitors the opportunity to better understand the three individual rain gardens. Eagle Scout candidate
Nate Hodges approached City staff with an interest in an Eagle Scout project. PW Director Chris Petree
and City Administrator Mike Ericson agreed that the installation of the signs was a most worthy and de-
serving project. Nate worked with Chris and Bill Weigel Signs to design and develop a sign display pro-
ject that would provide a visual picture and description of the various rain gardens. Nate recently com-
pleted the installation of the signs with his Boy Scout Troop 733 from Forest Lake. Mayor Fran Miron
recognized Eagle Scout candidate Nate Hodges and publicly thanked him and his scout troop for their
excellent work on the City Hall rain garden sign project.
Miron made motion, Haas seconded, directing staff to prepare a Certificate of Appreciation for Nate
Hodges thanking him for his efforts in the community.
All aye. Motion Carried.
