Motion Carried. <br />SCHEDULE WORKSHOP WITH WASHINGTON COUNTY SHERIFF FOR DISCUSSION ON <br />POLICE PROTECTION SERVICES <br />At its May 1, 2006 meeting, Council listened to a presentation from Washington County Sheriff Steve <br />Pott regarding the 800 MHz communication system, as well as how the county sheriffs department <br />delivers police protection services to the City of Hugo. After discussion, Council agreed to direct staff <br />to schedule a workshop, at which it would invite the sheriff and his staff in order to have a discussion on <br />current staffing levels for the department in providing police protection services for the City, as well as <br />how to provide satisfactory staffing levels for the next five years as the City's grows. <br />Miron made motion, Haas seconded, to schedule a workshop for Friday, July 14, 2006, Hugo City Hall, <br />at 8:30 am, to discuss police protection services. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />UPDATE ON CODE ENFORCEMENT WORSHOP <br />At a June 1, 2006 joint workshop with the Planning Commission, the City Council discussed the City's <br />enforcement of the public nuisance ordinance. The Council directed the staff to continue with the <br />current complaint -driven enforcement policy, but requested that the Planning Commission review the <br />ordinance and recommend changes to the Council. CD Bryan Bear provided Council with an update, <br />and solicited interest from any Council member to serve on a committee with Planning Commissioners <br />to review the ordinance. <br />Puleo made motion, Granger seconded, to appoint Council member Becky Petryk to the committee <br />reviewing the City's public nuisance ordinance. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />DISCUSSION ON PROPOSED EXTENSION OF FINALE AVENUE <br />The EDA met June 19, 2006 to discuss the extension of Finale Avenue, north from the new CR8 <br />location. Presently, the Schoeller property located on 145'h Street is for sale and would be needed for the <br />road extension, and they are willing sellers. The EDA recommended that Council pursue acquisition of <br />the property to accommodate the extension. CD Director Bryan Bear provided Council with a visual of <br />the Schoeller property and how the roadway would impact the property. <br />Miron made motion, Puleo seconded, directing staff to negotiate a purchase agreement with the <br />Schoeller family for they future extension of Finale Avenue. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />
