City Council meeting of January 3, 2005 <br />Page 8 <br />Assessor Frank Langer and the Council, as well as officials from the County Assessor's office. The <br />Minnesota State Legislature passed a law in 2003 requiring local municipalities to have an elected <br />official trained in issues related to the market valuation of property. City staff recommended that <br />Council select one member to attend this training session in early 2005, prior the City's April 28, 2005 <br />Board of Equalization meeting. Mayor Miron suggested that all Council members attend the training <br />session should that one Council member not be able to attend the annual meeting. <br />Miron made motion, Puleo seconded, to schedule a Council meeting for February 4, 2005, from 9am to <br />noon, to allow attendance at the Washington County Local Board of Appeal and Equalization Training <br />session. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />SCHEDULE ANNUAL GOAL SETTING SESSION <br />Each year, Council schedules and holds an annual goal setting session at which goals are developed with <br />the assistance of commission chairs, as well as City staff, in order to provide policy direction for City <br />staff for the upcoming year. Council has been very successful in the development of the goals the first <br />month of the year in order that they be developed, adopted, and included in the City's first Newsletter of <br />the year. <br />Miron made motion, Haas seconded, to schedule a Council goal setting work session for Tuesday, <br />January 25, 2005 at 7 PM, along with the assistance of commission chairs and City staff, in order to <br />develop goals for 2005. <br />All aye.
