City Council meeting of June 20, 2005 <br />Page 2 <br />her work duties, Barb has had to resign her position. Adoption of the Consent Agenda accepted the <br />resignation of Barb Marohnic from the Historical Commission and publicly thanked her for services to <br />the City of Hugo, and authorized staff to advertise for the vacancy. <br />APPROVE CHARITABLE GAMBLING FOR ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST CHURCH <br />Each year, St. John the Baptist Church holds its fall fund raiser at which they conduct bingo and raffles. <br />They have submitted their charitable gambling application to the City and it has been reviewed by City <br />staff and found to be satisfactorily complete. Adoption of the Consent Agenda approved the charitable <br />gambling license for St. John the Baptist Church to conduct bingo and raffles at its annual fund raiser. <br />APPROVE DONATION FROM BESA TO HISTORICAL COMMISSION <br />In 2004, the Bald Eagle Sportsman Association (BESA) presented a $500 donation to the City and the <br />Historical Commission for work in preserving the history of Hugo. For the Commission with a very <br />small budget, the $500 donation was graciously received. Adoption of the Consent Agenda accepted the <br />donation to the Historical Commission and the City publicly thanked BESA for its generous donation. <br />APPROVE PURCHASE OF PICKUP TRUCK FOR THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPT. <br />City staff has identified the immediate need for a pickup truck in the public works department. The <br />truck purchase is necessary to insure the assignment of public works duties in the most cost effective <br />manner possible. Public Works Director is working with the State Contract and Cooperative Purchasing <br />Venture dealer to acquire a %-ton 4X4 Regular Cab Pickup. Adoption of the Consent Agenda approved <br />the purchase of a %-ton 4X4 pickup truck in an amount not to exceed $22,000. <br />APPROVE ANNUAL PERFORMANCE REVIEW FOR TOM SMITH <br />Tom Smith was hired by the City on June 26, 2000. For the past five years, Tom has worked hard in <br />performing a variety of public works duties, which led to his promotion as the lead worker three years <br />ago. Tom is dependable, conscientious, and a valuable asset to the public works department, especially <br />as it continues to grow to provide the increase in services to the residents of Hugo. Adoption of the <br />Consent Agenda approved the annual performance review for Tom Smith. <br />APPROVE PEDDLER'S PERMIT FOR SOUTHWESTERN COMPANY TO SELL <br />EDUCATIONAL BOOKS <br />Southwestern Company has made application to the City for approval of a Peddler's Permit in order for <br />them to go door-to-door in the City to sell educational books. City staff has reviewed the application, as <br />well as completing a reference check on the municipality where they have been allowed to sell education <br />books, which appears to be satisfactory. Adoption of the Consent Agenda approved a Peddler's Permit <br />for Southwestern Company to sell educational books in the City of Hugo. <br />
