City Council meeting of February 2, 2004 <br />Page 4 <br />Miron made motion, Puleo seconded, directing the City Engineer to work with staff and the RCWD on a <br />demonstration project for the Hardwood Creek Project at selected locations along the channel. This <br />issue should be brought back for final approval by Council. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />FEBRUARY 4.2004 HARDWOOD CREEK MEETING WITH RCWD <br />RCWD's engineer Emmons and Olivier Resources will hold a meeting of February 4, 2004 to provide a <br />technical analysis of the Hardwood Creek Rehabilitation Report Draft Study. Staff has placed this item <br />on the agenda for informational purposes only. <br />Miron made motion, Haas seconded, that WSB Engineers have someone in attendance at this meeting to <br />represent the City. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />MNDOT RESPONSE TO CITY FOR TRAFFIC SIGNALS <br />Former City Engineer Dave Mitchell from SEH Engineers submitted the City's 2003 funding request to <br />MnDOT for traffic signals at TH61 and 147* Street and 130* Street, respectively. Staff received <br />notification from MnDOT that they will not fund the traffic signals. City Engineer Jay Kennedy <br />provided an analysis and instruction from MnDOT as to why the City was turned down as it relates to <br />the CSAH 8/14 realignment project. He stated that the CSAH 8/14 realignment project is moving <br />forward and the City will have an improved chance for MnDOT approval of a new traffic signal at TH61 <br />and 147* Street. These applications for traffic signals will be submitted again this year at a later date. <br />CD DIRECTOR REPLACEMENT PROCESS (SCHEDULE DATE FOR INTERVIEWS) <br />At its January 20, 2004 meeting, Council was informed by City staff that a total of 39 applicants had <br />applied for the CD Director position. Staff has thoroughly reviewed the applications and completed two <br />screenings with reference checks and is prepared to recommend a short list to interview. City sought <br />direction from Council as to the scheduling of a date to conduct interviews. The flexibility that Council <br />has exhibited in the past includes the scheduling of meetings both on Monday nights and odd Thursday <br />nights, as well as a potential for Friday or Saturday morning interviews. - <br />Miran made motion, Haas seconded, directing staff to coordinate a date and time with Council to <br />conduct the interviews. He suggested Friday and Saturday mornings on 2/13-14 or 2/27-28. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />PROGRESS REPORT ON LOCAL GOVERNMENT UNIT (LGU) <br />At its annual goal setting meeting on January 12, 2004, Council selected as one of its top ten goals, the <br />creation of a storm water management fee and local government unit.
