City Council meeting of January 21, 2003
Page 4
WEST ONEKA LAKE/165m STREET DITCH PROJECT
Water Resource Engineer Pete Willenbring from WSB Engineers stated that a total of 10 bids were
received on the 165h Street ditch project and that he was satisfied that the low bidder could satisfy the
terms of the contract. The low bid was received from Fyle Excavating at $137,483 with the engineer's
estimate at $209,128.75. Start up date of the project is scheduled for mid-February and completion by
June 30, 2003.
Granger made motion, Petryk seconded, to award the project to the low bidder Fyle Excavating in the
amount of $137,483, and direct the engineer to complete all necessary contracts.
VOTING AYE: Granger, Petryk, Miron
ABSTAINED: Puleo
Motion Carried.
SCBA FILL STATION FOR HUGO FIRE DEPARTMENT
Included in the Hugo Fire Department's 2003 budget, Fire Chief Jim Compton was funding for the
purchase an SCBA fill station. As Council is aware, SCBA bottles are currently filled in a plywood box,
which is not up to OSHA standards. The HFD received two quotes from Alex Air and Eagle Air for the
system that best fits the department's needs. The Bauer CSF -2S fill station is the model recommended
by the HFD.
Granger made motion, Puleo seconded, to award the purchase of the new fill station to Alex Air
Apparatus, Inc., at the low bid price of $5,299. The installation will be done at no charge as negotiated
by the Fire Chief. The only additional cost will be tubing, which is $5 per foot, allowing for a total
contract price less than the amount budgeted by the FD.
All aye. Motion Carried.
PELOOUIN INDUSTRIAL PARK PROJECT UPDATE (CITY ENGINEER)
City Engineer Dave Mitchell provided Council an update on the Peloquin Industrial Park Improvement
Project. The contractor is waiting for warmer weather to proceed with the project, which is anticipated
at the beginning of next week.
APPROVE CHARITABLE GAMBLING LICENSE AT RICCI'S (DEAD BROKE SADDLE
CLUB)
At its January 6, 2003 meeting, the Council tabled action on the charitable gambling license for the Dead
Broke Saddle Club, who desires to sell pull -tabs at Ricci's. Council directed staff to seek a contribution
list from the organization and bring that information back, along with a City Attorney's opinion on
recent state statute changes regarding charitable gambling, both of which were provided.
Miron made motion, Puleo, seconded, to approve the charitable gambling license for the Dead Broke
Saddle Club to sell pull -tabs at Ricci's, 14777 Forest Boulevard. All aye. Motion Carried.
