City Council meeting of January 21, 2003 <br />Page 7 <br />for 99 townhomes and a 2.23 -acre commercial oudot on the 13.70 -acre parcel. The townhomes would be a <br />mix of "classic row townhomes" and "gable townhomes". The requested PUD amendment would allow <br />townhomes on approximately 2.5 acres of land that was originally planned for retail/commercial <br />development as part of the original PUD. On January 9, 2003, the Planning Commission considered the <br />request and recommended approval by a unanimous vote. CD Director John Rask provided Council with a <br />brief overview of his staff report. Although Council expressed concern with the proposed change from the <br />original PUD: <br />Miron made motion, Granger seconded, to adopt RESOLUTION 2003-3 APPROVING PUD <br />AMENDMENT FOR VICTOR GARDENS 3RD ADDITION. <br />VOTING AYE: Granger, Petryk, Puleo, Miron <br />Motion Carried. <br />Puleo made motion, Granger seconded, to adopt RESOLUTION 2003-4 APPROVING PRELIMINARY <br />PLAT FOR VICTOR GARDENS and ADDITION. <br />VOTING AYE: Granger, Petryk, Puleo, Miron <br />Motion Carried. <br />2002 PLANNING COMMISSION ANNUAL REPORT <br />Community Development Assistant, Michele Lindau, completed the 2002 Planning Commission Annual <br />Report, and the second year that staff has assisted the Commission in developing the report. The report <br />provided an overview of 2002 applications, major development projects, building permit activity, and <br />other projects completed by the Planning Commission. CD Director John Rask provided an overview of <br />the report to the Council. On behalf of the Council, Mayor Miron thanked staff and the Planning <br />Commission for their level of professionalism and hard work on these projects. <br />Miran made motion, Petryk seconded, to accept the 2002 Planning Commission Annual Report. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />STREET SIGNS RECOMMENDATION <br />The Public Works Department, Washington County Sheriffs Office, Hugo FD, and Community <br />Development developed new City street sign specifications to insure uniform street signage throughout <br />the City. Because Washington County will no longer be the primary provider of the street signs, it is <br />necessary for the City to have specifications to provide to developers who order their signs through <br />private vendors. <br />Miron made motion, Petryk seconded, to approve the new street sign specifications as presented. <br />All aye.
